Being vegan is about doing the best you can for the animals and the planet. However, in order to make a real difference in this world, we need to be the greatest versions of ourselves. By truly learning to love ourselves and by putting that love back out into the world, we can inspire real change. That's what Next Level Vegan is about!
Hi, I'm Melissa. I have over a decade of experience with plant-based diets and nutrition. In early 2013, I took my vegan lifestyle to the "next level" and have consumed a high raw, whole foods plant-based diet with lots of daily greens, fruits, lightly cooked or steamed veggies, nuts, and seeds - very little salt or oil.
As a result, I healed many serious health conditions such as autoimmunity (specific condition undiagnosed), chronic fatigue syndrome, major depressive disorder, clinical anxiety, disordered eating (including bulimia and calorie restriction), cystic acne, PCOS, PMDD, alcoholism, and drug abuse.
When I first started out, I was living a fruitarian, 80-10-10 type lifestyle. I do believe this initially helped me heal - though, after a few years of the lifestyle, I realized that it was causing accelerated aging through glycation. Now, I take a more balanced approach. I just uploaded a video sharing more information about this experience and what my lifestyle is like now.
I'm starting this page to promote what I love more so than bashing what I hate. I'm looking forward to sharing deliciously healthy plant-based recipes, nutrition and health tips, vegan hacks, and more. Let's collab and create healthy, happy bodies!
