Sunrise from the top of Masada - overlooking the Dead Sea in Israel.
To experience this beauty, we had to wake up at 3 am and drive from the town of Arad to Masada near the Dead Sea.
On this drive through the desert we saw a wild Wolf cross the road in front of us - a great wild life experience.
We arrived at the entrance in complete darkness and stood at the gate waiting for it to open at 5 am. We were among the first to arrive and by the time the gate opened there more than a hundred people in line.
We started the long walk up the Snake Path with the aid of torches but as time went on it started to get light and we could see the pathway ahead of us at it snaked its way up the mountain.
At the top, we found a position facing east and waited for that glorious moment of Sunrise.
Bus loads of tourist had arrived from the easier Western path side and by the time of Sunrise there were hundreds of people on every available lookout point facing east.
What an experience, what a view , what a venue - one of the best sunrises in the world.
