Greetings, Hive!
Coming in with another issue of my new series called Hive-Chromatic Photography. It was not conceived because of any imaginary average of the colors that you actually see in hives in nature, or anything like that. It was because of the color theme of the branding of our new blockchain. Which I discussed in the previous part (linked below). I already wrote about some of its symbolism and about how favorite it actually was to me. I've done and exhibited Black&White&Red images before.
Now, this one got desaturated a little more deliberately. In order to fit the scheme. And to see what a wasp would look like without its yellows. I believe, if you are looking at the image from afar and at the edge of your focus, your brain will still paint the yellow in. It happens to me. But studied more closely it's just the transition from grayscale to red. And I am pretty positive I can see some red remaining on their wings and antennae. Some of that might be due to the color of the rock and its reflected light (in the case of the transparent wings, at least).
Do you think bad of the wasps? Do any of you think I am implying any wasp-like roles of entities among our Hive? Well, I wouldn't kill wasps or destroy their homes unless they are in my home or somewhere they have mistakenly thought they might build freely. In Nature, I leave them be. It's their place, as well as mine. I am sure they were meant to be some part of the ecosystem. Don't let wasps bug you (and, oh, how they have bugged me while trying to eat a sandwich on a Greek island's beach...). But also respect their role and their right to be. In general. Each being has its purpose.
Well, that doesn't mean we can't be enemies.
And that doesn't mean we can't respect each other ;)
A nest of wasps I photographed with my zoom lens during a Photography workshop I organized near Cape Shabla, Bulgaria, 2017.
Aperture F 4; Shutter Speed 1/200 sec.; ISO 100; Focal Length 188 mm.
There were models, photographers, assistants, and deep water jumpers near that cliff. Which was as red as you can see it here. One of my favorite Martian spots I've been to. More to come...
