Greetings, Fellow Seed Spreaders And Green Growers!
After a few reports on Lavender in the room and some tree planting in the village yard, I am finally happy to report the sprouting of the first carrots.
That early attempt for a sample crop was Initiated — January 29th.
About two weeks and a half later we have the first observable results.
A snapshot through the balcony window and through the thin nylon wall.
I know, right! THey don't even look quite like carrots yet, to the untrained eye. My eye is not yet trained, too, but I know what I have in this pot in such amount and in such density.
The first two weeks went by without me adding additional water. Some condense was visible on the ceiling piece of nylon stretch foil. I sprinkled some water yesterday for the first time after the day first planted the seeds.
And I added some more water today.
The top layer of soil — some light and airy turf mix that I bought and added on top of the black
and sticky soil from our village yard — it doesn't seem to absorb water quickly. Not for a good while.
But it does, eventually. I just have to be careful not to add too much.
And speaking of density, I shall have to later on pull some of those out and transplant them...literally. Somewhere else. And where that might be? It will be kind of ri-donk-ulous bringing them to the village garden and then, eventually, bringing them back to town when ready to be consumed.
But that might still be the case.
It doesn't matter as much as the joy of watching them grow.
Who knows...some day I might even be caught listening to them grow.
And no one dared...disturb the sound...of...
Carrots!
Peace and Carrot Juice!
Yours,
Manol
