Greetings, fellow sentient beings!
I had a small family vacation by the seaside up until a few days ago and our hosts had this (and many more) producing plants in their garden. All right, many more meaning a couple of figs and quite a lot of well arranged grape vines.
This be the tree at the most prominent position in the whole yard. I took the photo after returning from my sunrise pilgrimage.
So, they had this awesome opportunity to pick a few ripe figs daily, ration them in small packages, and offer them to tourists passing on he street on their way to the beach and back.
Such is the rule of figs, as they say, the three most important factors for fig trade: Location, location, location. Well, quality makes it to number four, I guess ;)
Today...
I went to my own yard, thirteen miles from the place I currently work and live, to see what needs to be done in short terms. One of the things would be gathering the grapes for wine or rakia, our traditional distilled spiritual stuff...perhaps next week.
But I had figs to pick first. I gathered a few kilos and right now, feeling inspired by a recent post of , I intend to try peeling them, putting them to sleep over with some sugar coating, and then boiling them. Her photos were so cool, I can't resist trying my best to replicate the effect. Of course, improvisation shall happen. It might come in the form of eating them all while peeling them, but...who knows. I might not do it, after all.
That's the plan. See what happens.
I'll surely tell you afterwards.
Peace!
Manol
