Se acercaba el verano, y en la ONG donde colaboraba -por entonces ocasionalmente-, estaban organizando una velada para recaudar fondos. Habría actuaciones de artistas locales, talleres de pintacaras, juegos y una tómbola, entre otras actividades. Todo sería muy alegre y lúdico, tal como invitaban las noches estivales.
Comercios del barrio y de toda la ciudad habían donado artículos para la tómbola, así que como miAu! me animé a aportar mi granito de arena. Colaboraría con un libro, eso lo tenía claro, pero tenía que pensar qué tipo de libro sería.
Después de darle muchas vueltas, el propio calor me inspiró: un libro de recuerdos para el verano, en el que poder escribir anécdotas, pegar fotografías, conservar recuerdos. Sería alegre y colorido, divertido y original.
Summer was approaching, and the NGO where I worked - occasionally at the time - was organising a fundraising evening. There would be performances by local artists, face-painting workshops, games and a tombola, among other activities. Everything would be lively and playful, just as the summer nights were meant to be.
Shops in the neighbourhood and all over the city had donated items for the tombola, so as miAu! I decided to do my bit. I would collaborate with a book, that was clear, but I had to think about what kind of book it would be.
After giving it a lot of thought, the heat itself inspired me: a book of memories for the summer, in which I could write anecdotes, paste photographs, preserve memories. It would be cheerful and colourful, fun and original.

La costura de hilo que suelen rematar los bordes la dibujé con un rotulador. Era una forma muy rudimentaria de hacerlo, y por eso mismo me pareció lo ideal, dándole un toque simpático al acabado.
As always, the meow! books are created from scratch, so with a collection of multicoloured papers, I started to bind some covers that would be the support for some authentic beach flip-flops created to scale for the occasion. How much fun I had making them! I even made the soles out of EVA (ethylene-vinyl-acetate, commonly known as "foamy"), totally imitating the real thing. For the straps I used the madroño ribbons, in a fantastic fuchsia pink, which stood out with the green that lined the foam and at the same time coordinated with all the work.
I drew the thread stitching that usually finishes the edges with a felt-tip pen. It was a very rudimentary way of doing it, and that's why I thought it was ideal, giving a nice touch to the finish.

- Y esos corazones, que van "volando" en diagonal, desde la esquina inferior de la tapa, hasta la superior derecha, como si se quisieran salir del libro.

- The white binding rings barely came between a bunch of tulle and satin ribbons knotted on each of the rings. All the warm colours of the book were represented by these ribbons: pink, orange, yellow, salmon,... Hidden among the ribbons was a bell that shone and rattled with the movement of the ribbons.
- The word was doubly warm: for its meaning and for the material it was made of: "relax" and wood.
- A turquoise raffia string held some paper pennants, glued on a little foam to separate them a little from the cover, and give them the sensation of really hanging.
- And those hearts, which "fly" diagonally from the bottom corner of the cover to the top right corner, as if they wanted to get out of the book.

The book's closure was simple, but no less striking: a light blue enamelled brooch would hold a bright yellow faux-leather cord that coordinates with some of the bows and with details of the pages that are glimpsed at the edge.

The size and width of the pages themselves are also part of the decoration: the first pages are narrower (starting with the front cover), and get wider and wider until they reach the back cover. Al final del libro Margui desea que te encante su trabajo, cuando aún lo escribía a mano (después comenzó a hacerlo con una antigua máquina de escribir).
