Mi experiencia cuidando de una nueva planta 🪴 Lirio de la paz [ESP-ENG]

Desde que emigré había dejado a un lado mi afición por las plantas ya que por falta de tiempo no me había animado a tener plantas en casa como lo hacía cuando estaba en venezuela.

Since emigrating, I had put aside my passion for plants because, due to lack of time, I hadn't been motivated to keep them at home like I did when I was in Venezuela.

Hace un tiempo estando de compras en el supermercado pasé por el área de jardinería y vi todas las plantas que tenían, fue difícil para mí no enamorarme de estas y al final decidir comprar una para empezar a tener mis plantas en casa.

Some time ago, while shopping at the supermarket, I passed by the gardening section and saw all the plants they had. It was hard for me not to fall in love with them, and in the end, I decided to buy one to start having my own plants at home.

Entre todas las opciones me decidí por una planta llamada Lirio de la Paz el cual me pareció bonito porque no solo se trataba de hojas verdes y frondosas sino que también tenía unas lindas flores blancas.

Among all the options, I chose a plant called the Peace Lily, which I found beautiful because it not only had lush green leaves but also lovely white flowers.

Investigando un poco aprendí que es una planta un tanto delicada y que no debía regarla mucho, que con darle un poco de agua cada por lo menos 2 días o cuando la tierra comenzara a secarse sería suficiente y así fue que empecé a cuidar de ella.

_After doing some research, I learned that it's a rather delicate plant and shouldn't be watered too much. Giving it a little water every two days or whenever the soil started to dry out would be enough, and that's how I began caring for it.-

Pocos días después noté que la planta estaba diferente, sus hojas ya no se veían fuertes sino débiles y cada vez se notaba más . Pensé que estaba muriendo pero sabía que no era la falta de agua (o al menos eso pensé) y cuando la vi completamente desmayada y no supe que hacer con ella le tomé una foto y se la envié a la IA (Gemini) para que me explicara que estaba pasando y su respuesta me hizo bastante sentido.

A few days later, I noticed the plant was different. Its leaves no longer looked strong but weak, and it was becoming increasingly noticeable. I thought it was dying, but I knew it wasn't from lack of water (or at least that's what I thought). When I saw it completely wilted and didn't know what to do, I took a picture and sent it to the AI (Gemini) so it could explain what was happening, and its answer made perfect sense.

Resulta que el Lirio de la Paz es también conocido como La reina del drama porque cuando tiene "Sed" se desmaya haciendo literalmente un drama para pedir agua. Como recomendación leí que debía colocar bastante agua en la maceta porque al parecer estaba bastante deshidratada y eso fue lo que hice, y se suponía que en unas pocas horas ella debía levantarse de nuevo y volver a la normalidad.

It turns out the Peace Lily is also known as the Drama Queen because when it's "thirsty" it practically faints, making a huge scene to ask for water. I read that I should put plenty of water in the pot because it seemed to be quite dehydrated, so that's what I did, and it was supposed to perk up again and return to normal within a few hours.

Luego de unas 5 horas aproximadamente ya la planta estaba totalmente recuperada, parecía una planta nueva y eso me dejó bastante sorprendida, pues, su forma de hacer "drama" por sed era algo que no conocía que hiciera alguna planta.

After about 5 hours, the plant was completely recovered; it looked like a new plant, which surprised me quite a bit, since its tendency to "make a fuss" about thirst was something I'd never seen in any plant.

Con los días se fueron secando algunas de sus hojas y se cayeron 2 de sus flores pero ella seguía viva, sin embargo, poco tiempo después volvió a hacer otro "drama" pero al parecer ahora tenía mucha agua. Luego de eso comenzó cada vez a caerse y secarse más y más hasta que se secó por completo y perdí mi planta.

As the days passed, some of its leaves dried up and two of its flowers fell off, but it was still alive. However, a short time later it threw another fit, but this time it seemed to have plenty of water. After that, it began to wilt and dry out more and more until it dried up completely, and I lost my plant.

No fue mucho tiempo el que me duró y la verdad ha sido la planta más extraña que he tenido, yo pensaba que sería más fácil cuidar de ella y tenerla en casa pero fue más difícil de lo que pensé y terminó muriendo.

It didn't last long, and honestly, it was the strangest plant I've ever had. I thought it would be easier to take care of and keep at home, but it was harder than I expected, and it ended up dying.
