Long time no see Steem!
My latest posts from a brief hiatus (due to classes/work keeping me busy) come as I travel in the deep South of the United States for a project. In January, I was approached by professors at Washburn University asking me to come along on a trip to historic sites from the Civil Rights Movement as they traveled there with a group of students. My involvement would be as a representative of our local PBS station, KTWU11, to act as a videographer that would record the trip and put together a short film afterwards. My coworker at KTWU, Danielle Sipe, and professor Matt Nyquist from Washburn's mass media department both are accompanying. I agreed to help!
Here's a photo I took with Dani before the trip, at Washburn.
Fast forward now to Spring Break, and we traveled by bus from Topeka, Kansas to the Deep South. The next series of posts you see will span museums and historic sites from the South, in areas including Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama. Some places we have already visited that I will go depth about later include Stax Records, the B.B. King Museum, and the hotel room where Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. I'll go in detail about these locations and my experience there in each post.
Stay tuned as I document my documentary process!
