After some good rain and wonderful sunlight my tomatoes and avocado tree are doing wonderfully. I took a walk to check on all my plants and was greeted by a few surprises.
The tomato plants I put in buckets are doing amazing. Those plants got first class treatment and were fertilized with nice fresh chicken fertilizer. I was so happy to see the first flowers on the tomato plants. I counted around 9 flowers! I'm so excited for the day I see those first tomatoes growing.
My Bucket Tomato Plants
First Flowers!
I planted a bunch of tomato plants in a patch in a wooden planter box we have built into out mountain. These plants suffered some setbacks when the cats decided to use it as a litter box and dug up almost all my plants. I didn't have any fence (they'd jump over it anyways) so I had to be creative. I used a broken down pallet, and our no parking sign to keep the cats away and my plants safe. These plants are behind in growing but they are healthy and surviving.

My happiest surprise was the sight of the first green growth to my new avocado tree. I had seen a root forming but seeing the green of what will eventually be the trunk of the tree was great to see. I was afraid the pit was a dud but now that the root is forming, it is growing faster every day.
