Hello from Zagreb, my dear Steemians!
Cold evening here with temeperatures around zero - but I’m not (really) complaining... I feel happy enough to enjoy the weekend and relax a bit... I went to a local videostore (before you ask - YES, we still have that in Croatia;) and rented three movies, as I’m already in that Oscar mood. :D All three of them supposed to be excellent movies, but very different genres so help me out here with an advice - which to watch first?
What do we have here?
Three Bilboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
It came to the movies in the beginning of December, directed by Martin McDonagh (also a scenario author) with Frances McDormand in leading role. Movie got 7 Oscar nomination - for:
• Best Picture
• Best Actress in a Leading Role
• Best Actor in supporting role
• Best Achivement for Music
• Best Original Screenplay
• Best Achivement in Film Editing
It has won this year’s Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture in Drama cathegory, and both for leading actress and supporting actor (Sam Rockwell).
The movie tells a story about mother who takes justice in her own hands after her daughter has been raped and murdered...
I, Tonya
Margot Robbie is my very new girl crush and I’m really hoping she’ll be the one taking home her Oscar on the 4th March at prestigue ceremony. Movie got three Oscar nominations:
• Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role
• Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting role (Allison Janney)
• Best Achivement in Film Editing
The movie is inspired by controversal life and personal career of one of the best known American ice-skaters Tonya Harding who got caught in the middle of the scandal when her ex husband used some not very legal methods to harm her biggest rival - Nancy Carrigan. Movie follows Tonya from her skating begginings at the age of four till the big scandal - a little travel to eighties and ninties, hm, extra bonus.
Btw, I heard Margot is fabulous in this one!
Madame
Directed and written by Amanda Sthers, this drama/comedy follows american couple Anne and Bob as they move to their summer house in Paris. They are preparing luxorious dinner for they rich friends, but realise they have odd number of guests (13, instead of 14). They kindly ask their made (played by Almodovar’s muse - Rossy de Palma) to pretend she is spanish countess. Things get a bit complicated when she falls in love with British broker who is siting next to her...
No Oscar nomination for this one, sorry! Bonus - in movie they speak English, Spanish and French. Tres chic!
Una will keep me company :) She heard me making popcorns so she came to join me... Was too impatient to wait for me to prepare her menu...;)
But we’re OK now... And the popcorns are getting cold as I’m writing you this...
So, let me hear you-
What would you see first?
Una is on her position already ;) Hope you had fun night as well :)
xoxo,
M. & U.
