This will the third time I've talked about the Texas band Khruangbin here on steemit. I just keep rediscovering them and finding new ways to appreciate them! The band is a melting pot of international influences and sounds. Their name translates to "engine fly" aka airplane in Thai. They were in a heavy Thai funk phase a few years ago, and it directed their creativity on their first album The Universe Smiles Upon You
Today I'm presenting their song "Friday Morning" which is the last track on their latest album Con Todo El Mondo. I wrote a review on their album on steemit that you can find here. I liked it right away on the first listen because its warm radiance stands out from the rest of the album, but it still has the chill, mystical elements of its predecessors. Those"Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na" 's mixed in with the magical guitar work by Mark Spear is what gets me. The lyrics aren't really at the forefront, the band likes keeping them in the back on all their songs. I went into depth about this in my review, but this song and the others really give you an instrumental vibe that is perfect to put on while you do some work or chores around the house
I think the band is marketing it as their second single. After hearing it come on the radio a few times unprompted, a new appreciation for the song has blossomed inside me. It's funny how you can like a song a bit, but then if someone else plays it, your love for the song seems to skyrocket. That's happened a few times to me I'm sure it has happened to you too.
The music video takes place at the ranch where the band rehearses and where got a lot of their early years/growth in. The video presents the band members looking right at the camera, but they're actually hearing recorded messages of all their loved ones/friends and family talk about how much they mean to them. Heartwarming for sure. But maybe you'll listen to this song and get warm thinking about the love in your life, or the love you want to bring in. Enjoy steemit, have a great rest of your weekend!
