Hoy les voy a hablar de una de esas actividades que solo quienes estamos metidos en el fandom entendemos: el arte de la photocards.

Para el que no sepa, una photocard (o PC, para los amigos) es una foto pequeña, generalmente de un ídolo de K-Pop o un personaje que amamos, que viene como extra en un álbum o se compra por separado. Son literalmente pedacitos de felicidad en miniatura que coleccionamos con devoción.

Pero hoy no solo quiero hablar de coleccionar las oficiales, sino de llevar el fandom al siguiente nivel: ¡crear nuestras propias photocards! Es una actividad que combina el fangirleo con la creatividad y, si les soy honesta, ¡es súper adictiva!

¿Por Qué Nos Volvemos Creadores de PCs? ✂️

La photocard oficial es un tesoro, sí, pero hacer las nuestras nos da una libertad que no tiene precio: Hacer las tuyas te garantiza tener a tu amado bias (o quien sea tu amor platónico) en tu bolsillo las 24 horas del día. ¡Es justicia fangirl!

A veces, esa selfie o esa foto de concierto que te enloquece nunca sale en una PC oficial. ¡Problema resuelto! Las creamos con nuestras fotos favoritas.

Today I'm going to talk to you about one of those activities that only those of us who are involved in fandom understand: the art of photocard.

For those who don't know, a photocard (or PC, for short) is a small photo, usually of a K-Pop idol or a character we love, that comes as an extra in an album or can be purchased separately. They are literally miniature pieces of happiness that we collect with devotion.

But today I don't just want to talk about collecting the official ones, but about taking fandom to the next level: creating our own photocard! It's an activity that combines fangirling with creativity and, if I'm honest, it's super addictive!

Why do we become PC creators? ✂️

Official photocard is a treasure, yes, but making our own gives us priceless freedom: Making your own guarantees that you have your beloved bias (or whoever your platonic love is) in your pocket 24 hours a day. It's fangirl justice!

Sometimes, that selfie or concert photo that drives you crazy never makes it onto an official PC. Problem solved! We create them with our favorite photos.

Le ponemos nuestro estilo, un borde cuchi, un diseño aesthetic o un fondo especial. Es una forma de tener merch totalmente única y a nuestro gusto.

La emoción del proceso: De la pantalla a la mano 🖱️➡️🤚

El proceso es la parte más satisfactoria y creativa de todo:

• La Caza de la Imagen Perfecta (¡Y la Edición!)

Esto es como una misión de espionaje. Tienes que rebuscar en Pinterest, Twitter o Weverse hasta encontrar esa foto de altísima calidad que sabes que se verá épica en tamaño PC. Luego, la llevas al editor (yo uso apps sencillas) para ajustar el tamaño (generalmente son como 5.5 x 8.5 cm), el brillo y, lo más importante, ¡ponerle un filtro que la haga brillar!

• El Momento de la Impresión (¡La Ansiedad!)

Aquí es donde todo se pone serio. Mandar a imprimir el diseño es un acto de fe. Siempre tienes esa pequeña ansiedad de que el color no quede bien o que la foto se vea borrosa. Pero cuando el papel sale y ves a tu bias en alta definición, ¡es pura felicidad!

• El Arte de Recortar (¡La Terapia!)

Para mí, esta es la parte más relajante. Agarrar la guillotina, la regla, el cutter (¡con cuidado!) o las tijeras y recortar cada tarjetita con precisión milimétrica. Es casi terapéutico. El sonido del papel y ver cómo de una hoja grande salen un montón de joyitas... ¡una maravilla!

We add our own style, a cute border, an aesthetic design, or a special background. It's a way to have totally unique merchandise that suits our taste.

The excitement of the process: From screen to hand 🖱️➡️🤚

The process is the most satisfying and creative part of it all:

• The Hunt for the Perfect Image (And Editing!)

This is like an espionage mission. You have to search Pinterest, Twitter, or Weverse until you find that high-quality photo that you know will look epic in PC size. Then, you take it to the editor (I use simple apps) to adjust the size (usually around 5.5 x 8.5 cm), the brightness, and, most importantly, add a filter that makes it shine!

• The Moment of Printing (The Anxiety!)

This is where things get serious. Sending the design to print is an act of faith. You always have that little bit of anxiety that the color won't turn out right or that the photo will look blurry. But when the paper comes out and you see your bias in high definition, it's pure happiness!

• The Art of Cutting (Therapy!)

For me, this is the most relaxing part. Grab the guillotine, the ruler, the cutter (carefully!) or the scissors and cut out each little card with pinpoint accuracy. It's almost therapeutic. The sound of the paper and seeing how a large sheet turns into a bunch of little gems... wonderful!

• La Protección y el Brillo Final

Una photocard hecha con amor merece ser protegida. No puede faltar el laminado o la funda transparente para que aguante el trajín de la cartera, el binder o el bolsillo. Ahí es donde se sella la magia.

Lo más cool de tener PCs personalizadas es que puedes regalarlas a tus amigos o intercambiarlas en eventos. Es una forma hermosa de compartir en el fandom.

• Protection and the Final Touch

A photocard made with love deserves to be protected. You can't forget the laminate or transparent sleeve so it can withstand the wear and tear of your wallet, binder, or pocket. That's where the magic is sealed.

The coolest thing about having personalized PCs is that you can give them to your friends or trade them at events. It's a beautiful way to share in the fandom.
