Your Weight Doesn't Matter!
I spend a lot of time telling people to lay off the scales. It's an easy measure when working towards a fitness goal and people always get the idea in their head that they should weigh a certain weight.
Oh, I remember the days when I weighed 60 kilos, it was amazing.
The only problem being, your physical weight is comprised of many things.
- Your bone denisity
- How much water you're carrying
- Your muscle mass
- And of course, the amount of fat you're carrying.
There are too many variables with your weight for this to be the sole measurement to rely on when it comes to a fitness target.

It's quite possible for you to weigh more than what you believe is your "ideal weight" and be at your best physical condition.
When measuring your progress towards your fitness goal, the best way to determine your progress is through physical measurements. And by this I mean actually getting out a measuring tape and measuring the circumference of your torso and limbs.
This is going to tell you a lot more about your progress rather than a number on a scale.
Want to dive deeper? Then spend a little money and get a Body Composition Analysis completed
This analysis will give you a detailed breakdown of your skeletal mass, your muscle mass, your water content and how much fat you are carrying. This type of analysis will also measure all of your limbs and your torso as well. This type of analysis will give you the best data that you can work with when working towards a fitness goal. So if you get this done progressively throughout your fitness journey, you can expect to have a fantastic understanding of your progress.
But what if you can't be bothered with this level of data analysis?
Then just go with how your clothes fit. And to be honest, this measure is really all that matters. If your clothes fit well, then you're quite likely to be feeling great as well. And that's all that really matters. If your clothes are tight and restrictive, you have more work to do, if they fit well then you're probably feeling on top of the world and making great progress with your fitness.
So keep up the great work and keep training!
