BNP is hopeful to get permission for rally in the capital's Suhrawardy Udyan on March 29. After meeting with Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal in the Secretariat, BNP's national standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan spoke to reporters.
The BNP-led three-member delegation held a meeting with Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal from 11am today. Nazrul Islam Khan led the party. The BNP vice chairman Altaf Hossain Chowdhury and Hafizuddin Ahmed were also in the team.
Nazrul Islam Khan told reporters after the meeting, "We are optimistic about the permission of the public in Suhrawardy Udyan on 29 March. We have repeatedly requested the DMP commissioner to come to the Home Minister without receiving the response. "He said," The Home Minister's police authority (authority). BNP sought help from him regarding the permission of the rally. He said he would take an initiative to discuss with the concerned people. His response was positive. We hope, we will get permission. '
Nazrul Islam Khan said, "BNP is a large democratic political party. Meeting and assembly is our constitutional and political rights. If there is a democratic environment we will get permission for the rally. It is our belief. Apart from this, we have talked about the arrest of leaders and workers of our country. Our women leaders and helpless workers are being arrested and they are being kept in prisons for long, they are not bail. We have sought the remedy for this. '
Replying to a question, Nazrul Islam Khan said, "We are hopeful, we want to stay with the hope. We believe in peaceful protest. "
Earlier, on March 12, the BNP wanted permission to rally at Suhrawardy Udyan. Police did not allow public rally to mention public safety. Since then, the BNP has been asking for permission from the police to mobilize the rally.
