CIVAC (Civic Action) is one of the program of the local government here in our town. Its about visiting and bringing services to all 68 barangays atleast once a year.
Do you know that most of the people in the far barangays gets to have themselves checked by a doctor once a year, and that is during CIVAC only.
The fare to get to the town proper cost about ₱200-300 ($4-$6) for a roundtrip, and some of them only earns about $2 or even less in a day. And this $2 will be spent on food for the whole family.
An average of 200 patients is seen each day during CIVAC, that's about 2-3 minutes per consultation in order to accommodate all of them.
