The Laundry Bridge is a bridge where the Fontanka River originates from the Neva River. The name of this bridge reminds that in this place once in the 18th century there was the Laundry Courtyard (on the left bank of the Fontanka opposite the Summer Garden). This bridge was the first stone bridge across the Fontanka River.
The bridge appeared in times Catherine the Great, when all the embankments began to build and "dress" in granite. General management of the construction of granite embankments was carried out by the Russian architect Yuri Matveevich Felten. The bridge was built from 1766 to 1769 under the guidance of architect Rossi and architect Nasonov.
The bridge is very popular with tourists and guests of St. Petersburg. A constructive feature is that when you cross this bridge in a car, the person "captures the spirit". Welcome and see.
