White and yellow water lilies are the ones most commonly found on Wisconsin lakes. The flowers open in the morning, and usually close in the afternoon.

Waterlilies are rooted in mucky or silty bottoms and float on the water surface. They provide excellent habitat for largemouth bass and sunfish.
I've spent many sunny summer days with my kids when they were small in a rowboat, with
a container of worms catching pan fish to cook for dinner.

Spending a quiet day among the lily pads is a very enjoyable way to spend a beautiful Sunday afternoon!
