The museum, in Thermopolis, Wyoming, has over 30 mounted skeletons, hundreds of displays, and a preperation lab that can be viewed. There is also a dig site tour that offers a rare opportunity to see dinosaurs buried in the ground, but we visited on Labor Day weekend and it was closed.
The Supersaurus, a 106 foot long sauropod found near Douglas, Wyoming is the largest, most complete Supersaurus ever discovered. He literally stretches from one end of the museum to the other.
Also on display is the Thermopolis Specimen Archaeopteryx one of only 10 known specimens of this incredible species, thought to be the first true bird, in the entire world. This is the only one on display in North America
Other impressive specimens are the Tyrannosaurus rex and the Albertaceratops. There are over 200 displays in the museum, and it was a fun place to take photos!
