I saw a video on YouTube about time management, I was eager to listen to how the lady have been able to hack into using her time better because it is one thing I have struggled with for as long as I can remember. Managing the irreversible, is a bit terrifying and I think it requires a lot of studies, I wanted to do better.
One thing that keeps making me go in circle with learning about how to better my life, especially in managing my time is, I have to figure out myself what works best for me and listening to many others who have done the work to figure out what works for them, is like a waste of time. Although I could use their wisdom to figure mine out also.
That said, I decided to watch this video. After all she said, she randomly said a quote from the former CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs. That quote have stayed with me longer than I thought it would, a constant reminder of how better I could manage my time only that I keep pushing it off.
“People think focus means saying yes to the thing you’ve got to focus on but that’s not what it means at all, it means saying no to the hundred other good ideas that there are”. - Steve Jobs.
Remember, the video was about *"Time Management" and then this quote came up, do you get the connection? I thought that was a powerful direction for anyone who wants to do better at managing their time. The major reason we fail at using our time well is simply because we are using the time to address distractions.
This is why I teach and remind myself of the power of "CLARITY" as often as I can, because knowing the exact things that needs to be done will help me know when something is a distraction or not. That way, I can say no to the hundred other good ideas that there are while I say yes to the thing I've got to focus on, simple!
I'm still struggling with managing my time but I'm glad I know better about clarity, focus and discipline than I did in the past. If I keep going like this, I'll be able to use all and change my life for the better. I don't know how much time I have in life but I do know I have to manage the time I have so I am learning intentionally how to do so.
