I started a book that was recommended to me to learn about entrepreneurship, my interested skill and how to grow with it. I was excited about the book because it wasn't the first time it was recommended to me, a lot of people seem to have read the book except me so I rushed into it.
The name of the book is "The Boron Letters" and so many things surprised me about the book that I can't help but share about it while sharing a few tips I learned from the book about entrepreneurship for those who are interested in making sales while growing their own business.
Entrepreneurship requires a lot more than is said really, many people stopped their 9-5 jobs to start personal businesses but only a few sustain the business while the rest either go back to their 9-5 jobs or keep trying and failing in the businesses they try their hands on, there are reasons to that.
As much as some persons don't want to accept it, entrepreneurship is not for everybody. Some people work and grow better when they are working under a boss, a leader or someone is in charge. Entrepreneurship means taking leadership into your hands and if you're not prepared for it, you'll lose it even before you start.
Another reason which I have come to learn from the book I read is, entrepreneurship requires your time, energy and decision making skills. Starting a business is a whole lot because you'd have to not just know what you want to offer to the market but also build a structure to make offers.
And building structures takes time because no matter how well you see people run a similar business successfully, it's still a new development for you starting out. And that mean, you have to learn about almost everything you adopt into your new business with hopes that it will work out well until you can afford employees.
In that light, Gary Halbert in "The Boron Letters" stresses a lot on one aspect of an entrepreneur's life that surprised me. I honestly didn't imagine a well known and successful entrepreneur would think to prioritise that in his most valued book (in the form of letters to his son) but it made sense.
Every entrepreneur needs their health to be in good control of their businesses. An entrepreneur should know when he or she can give their work at high efficiency and they can only know when they prioritise their health and find out when they work best. This writer shared a lot of activities he engages in before his work.
Exercises, food, rest, having a structure for your own life, he mentioned all that in a very clear way and even provided good examples for you to practice immediately as an entrepreneur then he goes ahead to teach how he does his actual work as a copywriter, a high demand skill in marketing.
In essence, while we're at it with growing our businesses, we should prioritise our health and personal time because I think it's one of the reasons we set out to own something that we run ourselves, to have more time for our lives, families and the things we really want to do. And not staying stuck in someone else's structure.
