In the last decades behavioral habits have been replicated by a social group that, being outside the law, manages to permeate the codes of conduct of society.
To be or to seem
Being a hoodlum or behaving as such is not seen as something positive in Venezuelan society, but there are sectors in which people live and socialize with them.
Due to such a "lax" normative framework, in Venezuela it is increasingly common to observe behaviors such as disrespect for property, public spaces and authority, as well as the appropriation of others and evasion of responsibilities. These aspects are part of a criminal behavior. It is also common for the ordinary citizen to perform daily actions that do not measure the consequences for third parties, since it has a negative institutional "modeling", which generates a culture of "do whatever is for your own benefit, it does not matter, because the law in this country does not exist. "
This is how the so-called "Creole liveliness" is also a stigma of the culture of the offender, because for these individuals only their interests are worth and rarely look at the consequences of their actions. Furthermore, this type of attitude is translated into the common language, because the "irreverence" before the authority becomes a code of conduct, generating conflicts within the communities.
The Justice of the Peace must be taken as an alternative mechanism for resolving conflicts in the country. There is an Organic Law that, in practice, ceased to be valid for several years for political reasons. The implementation of this norm can contribute to the generation of citizen behaviors that promote coexistence, dialogue and agreements to reduce conflict, a breeding ground for crime.
Rescue the values
But can anything be done so that the Venezuelan is not defined by this behavior?
A determining factor to avoid this generalization is to have more and better education as a preventive mechanism. The socialization of values in the community is done fundamentally through education, and this is the ethical imperative that the Venezuelan State must break with the culture of crime and establish a good citizenship and peace. It is important to identify from the school the risk factors that exist in the community for the increase of violence and the use of the codes (language and behavior) of the delinquency.
In the country there is a lack of information campaigns that invite us to maintain and strengthen values, but positive ones, which reinforce work, solidarity, respect, and awareness of acts, that is, those that our grandparents tried for transmitting. In the house, work is hard, but it is the most important, of course, it must go hand in hand with true peace policies. This is a joint effort, a public-private partnership, but it can be done.
Depending on the risk factors, pedagogical strategies must be implemented from schools that are transversal to the entire curriculum, and to train and inform children and adolescents about the forms of behavior suitable for a better citizen coexistence, which today it is called the development of life skills.
