Welcome to Travel Memories of Mexico #2
A series of travel photos and stories from wonderful Mexico.
Xcaret - You gotta see it to believe it!
I have heard tales of Xcaret from various friends who all have been. Everyone gave their warmest recommendations of the place... so I had to check it out :)
It was time to find out if it could live up to the "hype". I mean it couldn't be that good... just because it is one of the most visited attractions in the Riviera Maya? Or could it?!?!
We were well prepared - or so we thought!
A bag with 2 cameras was packed. Extra memory cards and batteries. That should be enough right? Nope! It became very clear that we had to pace ourselves throughout the day as there were so many incredible things to take photos of. And we totally succeeded - at night the last of the batteries ran out, and not only from the cameras but from us as well.
So today I spent more than an hour digging through pictures from Xcaret and selection just a handful to show you guys here.
What was the best part there? The evening show!
Underwater rivers, beautiful Mexican cemetery, colorful and majestic animals? Everything was AMAZING. I just wish that we had time to spend an extra day there. What a great day - so magical and full of memories.
The hands-down best part though was the 2-hour evening show! WOW. I love a good performance, and I have seen my fair share of excellent shows. This, however, was in another league altogether. There must have been hundreds of performers all wearing extravagant outfits guiding you through various parts of the Mexican history.
If you are visiting Xcaret then make sure you stay for the evening show! You won't regret it!
How well do I blend in with these guys? They had just finished a spectacular show.
One of a kind advertisement on the road to Xcaret.
Getting up close with the animals in the eco-park.
This guy crossed the path right in front of us as if he owned the place.
Part of the beach/snorkeling area. Unfortunately, I didn't try out the Sea Trek Helmet dive, but we did splash around enjoying the refreshing water.
A long way from home?
Evening show was about to start and the arena was filling up fast!
The mighty chief. All the outfits where great.
The amazing and incredibly elaborate evening show was coming to an end.
Thank you for taking a trip down memory lane with me!
