I was at Brookfield Zoo (outside of Chicago), standing at the fence that encompassed the giraffes, when a giraffe walked in my direction and got up really close to me.
What a great opportunity to get a close up picture!
I had one of the old disposable cameras that we all used to carry, so I seized the opportunity to snap a photo.
Just as I snapped the photo, he/she stuck out this enourmous tongue to get the peanuts that were in my shirt pocket!
I was shocked! It looked like a giant black snake had slithered out of its mouth!
I looked through my old photos to try and find the photo, but no luck.
So I searched Google for a picture of a giraffes tongue and came across this very cool website, https://www.quora.com/ that people comment on just about any question you can imagine.
I was surprised at the intelligent answers that people answered with!

How cool is that?!?! That people would respond with such detailed information.
And how cool is it that a giraffe has an 18 inch tongue?
Female and male giraffes always seem so mello. Cool, calm and collected.
I wonder if it has anything to do with their gigantic tongues? ..... ;-)
