Greetings Steemit Friends! π
I hope you enjoyed a lovely New Year's and have recovered from the craziness of the holidays. I know spreading all that expected holiday cheer can be stressful for many.
As for me, a post-holiday holiday sounds good right about now! ποΈ Somewhere warm 'n sunny ποΈ with a poolside cabana and a fruity Daiquiri πΉ in hand... but...
Oh sh#t! Another New Year's has come and gone... and now, it's dreary January.
Omg, now I have to do "my resolutions" and transform myself into an amazing person sometime within the next twelve months. Bad habits and all!
NO. F'ING. WAY. NOPE. NOT GONNA HAPPEN. LIKE EVER. π π»
I resolve to screw New Year's resolutions. This has been my one and only resolution for quite some time now... and guess what?
IT FRIGGIN' WERKS. π―
At least it does for me. Don't get me wrong, New Year's is a choice time to reaccess both short and long-term goals.
KEEP IT SIMPLE. βοΈ
It's easy to get caught up in the high fevered pitch of self-help commercialism this time of year. Avoid late night weight loss infomercials and Instagram makeup-up tutorials (and yes, even the man make-up ones).
Unfortunately for us, real life isn't as charming as a Helen Fielding novel. Life is complicated and can be uncomfortable at times, but goal-setting and knickers shouldn't be.
Remember, easy does it. Pace yourself. Keep what's working. Pivot or drop what doesn't.
FAIL FAST, FAIL OFTEN. π€
" 'Tis a lesson you should heed: try, try, try again. If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try again." - W.E. Hickson
Consider your beliefs. Tweaking detrimental beliefs may help you to achieve your goals sooner.
Is FAIL a four-letter word to you? If so, change your belief that failure is bad and learn to embrace it. Failing is essential for learning.
GIVE ZERO F*CKS. π
Your goals are YOUR goals. Their purpose is to serve your self-betterment and not what others might want or expect of you.
YOU DO YOU. π
Sssooo, you've done all this goal-setting and still haven't achieved what you set out to do...
Relax. Don't sweat the small stuff. Forgive yourself. π You're perfectly human. π There's still time π ... and most importantly, simply enjoy πΉ and appreciate each and everyday! π
Today, it's my 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF SCREWING NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS! π²
A decade ago, I published this silly parody inspired by 'Bridget Jones's Diary'. What can I say, I tried my best to capture a Zellwegger-esque faux-British accent.
So, without further ado, here's babbling Babette Jones's New Year's misadventure:
Wishing you a Happy, Healthy & Prosperous 2018! π€
Thanks for commenting, upvoting and resteeming this post! I hope my post will inspire you to achieve your goals (both old and new) and to screw burdensome resolutions. Until next time...
Cheers!
