Songwriting has never come across my mind at all, as I always feel it is for those who has proper theoretical skill in composing melodies, or at least should have a decent grammar to compose lyrics. I've stopped learning piano 11 years ago, and I don't speak good grammar English or any language. So back then, I feel songwriting was something out of my reach.
I tried writing, but somehow didn't manage to complete a song due to high self-criticism & constantly comparing myself with others. "The chords progressions are too simple" "The lyrics doesn't rhyme at all" "There's no depth in the lyrics" "Why can't I produce this genre's melody/chords like so and so" etc. Sometimes, it got so frustrating that I gave up writing half way. However, in the midst of all those self-doubt moments, I realize...

Whether its your handmade products, your cooking, your music, your teaching, your perspectives in life, your idea etc. You are one unique person, with an unique DNA & mind, that distinct yourself from each other. I can't believe I've completed my first original song, regardless how simple the song lyrics or chords progression is. It is through this song, God is telling me, it is alright to be who I am and that I am always enough for Him.
Just like how couples love to see their partners be at ease & expressive of being themselves. They love just the way they are and they will always be enough for each other.
That's how "You Are Enough" was birthed.
This song may not sound fancy with music effects or anything, but it is a genuine simple song from my heart. It is meaningful to me as it has helped me to be where I am today.
