I found out that Microsoft is planning on discontinuing Microsoft Paint. So sad. I used Microsoft Paint to make my low budget animation short film:
I searched for a photo of a genie and photo of footsteps from the Internet.
I used the Microsoft Paint application to create 48 slightly altered pictures of the genie so that when played together (using Microsoft MovieMaker) they would create the illusion of a “magical appearance” of the genie from the lamp. I altered the pictures using the “eraser” feature in Microsoft Paint.
I used this same process for the “footsteps” sequences to create the illusion of “walking”.
