Greetings to the brothers and sisters of .
John 8: 28-32
28 Jesus said to them, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am, and that I do nothing by myself, but as the Father taught me, so I speak.
29 For he who sent me is with me; The Father has not left me alone, because I always do what pleases him.
30 Speaking of these things, many believed in him.
The truth will make you free
31 Jesus then said to the Jews who had believed in him: If you continue in my word, you will be truly my disciples;
32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
In some cases we say that freedom is the right to live as we want, to achieve our dreams and interests. However, Jesus spoke of a deeper aspect of what freedom is, which has to do with the state of our souls. God wants to free us from all bondage that prevents us from becoming the person He wanted us to be when He created us. This kind of freedom is not achieved through war and revolution, but through the knowledge of the truth, and that truth is Christ Jesus.
To speak of freedom in Christ is to become independent of distortions, to free oneself from the bondage of the false. God, in the person of our Lord Jesus Christ, by dying on the cross of Calvary made us free from the condemnation of sin. That is the true freedom in Christ and that is where we should aim in spite of any circumstance.
Jesus tells us in John 8: 31-32: If you continue in my word, you will be truly my disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.
A passage from the bible When the Lord Jesus is in Capernaum with the demoniac, in the same Synagogue, this man, captive by the evil one, begins to give scary shouts. But in his mind he longs to be released from such a horrible condition. Then, who speaks through him is the Devil. "What do you have with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, the Holy One of God! "But Jesus rebuked him, saying:" Be quiet, and get out of him. " And the impure spirit shook him violently, and crying with a loud voice, he came out of him "Mark 1: 24-27.
Each person is free to choose the power he wants to see dominate over his life. The demoniac, instead of prayers, could not but utter the words of Satan; nevertheless, the simple supplication of his heart was heard. That is, God, the Lord Jesus who was God himself, heard that plea from his heart and acted.
Simply, this man did not want to carry a demon in his life. And the Lord Jesus Christ, who was and is the great I AM, knew it. God knows his thoughts and his heart, the desperate plea of this man and freed him. That is God's purpose for us, the freedom of salvation through faith in Christ.
When we speak of captivity, we speak of prisons, of jail, we speak that the laughter of our lips is erased. We talk about how our heart does not have the same joy that it had long ago. That we are not the happy person we would like to be. We speak of a sad heart, afflicted, hurt, fearful; The Lord in his deep love is interested that we go out to the land that He promised us, that it is a land of freedom.
Causes of captivity:
The fear
Lie and deception
Worry and anxiety
Prejudice.
Bitterness
Resentment.
Insecurity.
Consequences of the captivity:
Captivity can bring serious consequences to our lives such as:
Destroy our personal testimony. Others may realize when our behavior does not support the faith we profess.
Prevent our spiritual growth. If we allow the bonds of slavery in our lives, we will hinder the work that the Lord wants to do in our lives.
The truth that sets us free
¿What did Jesus mean when he said: "the truth will set you free" John 8.32?
The truth about our salvation: We must recognize that freedom is based on a personal relationship with Christ. In addition, we have the Holy Spirit who lives in us to guide us, strengthen us and make us free.
The truth about our position: We have become children of God and heirs with Christ, by forgiving us and giving us eternal life. But so that we can fulfill the plan that has for our life, we must identify what binds us and deal with what enslaves us.
The truth about our inheritance: As children of God, we have his power, promises and new nature, which gives us what we need to live pleasing him.
2 Peter 1: 3-4
3 As all things pertaining to life and piety have been given to us by His divine power, through the knowledge of Him who called us by His glory and excellence,
4 by means of which He has given us precious and very great promises, so that by them you may become participants of the divine nature, having fled from the corruption that exists in the world because of concupiscence;
Where there is the presence of God there is freedom. When a people unites in spirit, indeed to worship God, the Lord himself is in the midst of his people, and says that because of the anointing all ties, all yoke and all ties are rotted.
God's desire is that we get out of that captivity where we enter consciously or unconsciously. But God has promises for our life and wants to give us the freedom we are waiting for.
The Lord has a very special plan for our lives, with Jesus we have found the fullness that we sought for a long time, God has proclaimed and has given us freedom from captivity, let us begin to adore, to sing, to cry from the bottom of our hearts for the freedom we are looking for.
God is looking for a people in freedom.
We are free greatly in Jesus, free to succeed and fail. Free to love God, ourselves, and our neighbor. We are free not to be perfect, not to please all the people we have around us to accept us socially. We are free to rest in Christ and in our freedom. We can explore what it means to live life and not live in fear. We are free from the requirements of the law, and therefore free to rest in Christ.
God continue to bless us greatly and remain in true freedom, in the freedom that Jesus Christ gives us.
