I'm feeling groovy on Buddha's Birthday. This holiday occurs the eighth day of the fourth month of the Lunar calendar. And in 2021 this is May 19th. We can see the Buddhist temple from our veranda and decided to spend the day at home today and draw pictures.
Usually this day is filled with music and events and the neighborhood is jammed with people. This year because of social distancing there was just two times that we loud at around 10 am and 6pm. Usually the whole night is loud with a party drinking at the corner stores near the temple.
This year was quiet and I enjoyed it. I took a walk around the neighborhood with my two boys. We found this busy bee in the rose garden. My boys said to just keep moving and don't bother taking pictures of bees because it's too hot. I still managed to get a couple shots.
When we got home we drew pictures together. This picture is my youngest son's self portrait. He had fun drawing it and then coloring it on sketchbook. My oldest son also wanted to draw a picture of himself studying. He had a great plan but gave up half way.
At the end of the day we went through our old clothes and gave away the clothes we didn't need anymore. The kids have grown up so fast. We found an old German T-shirt we had from our friends in Heidelberg. It says, "ICH BIN OMA's & OPA'S BESTER". We always thought it was funny because "OMA" means mom in Korean also, but "OPA" means big brother. Anyway these kids are the best and I'm glad we had a day off today.
Maybe this isn't the most appropriate music for Buddha's Birthday, but this is what I'm thinking about right now.
I'm just feeling Groovy on a Wednesday Afternoon.
