Elephants live quite a long time for such a large animal. Asian elephants, like this one, are known to live between 48 and 60 years old and are known as one of the wiser animals. They have quite a long memory, which can help them remember water sources and connections they form over the course of decades. They also are known to mourn their dead and have been found to gently touch the tusks and bones of their deceased companions.
