Hello Hive
It’s a beautiful day to be here again to share with the community my latest creation. I have been away from sewing for about 2weeks now and it feels so good to be back.
Today I decided to make a very simple dress but because of the nature of the fabric it turned out so beautiful and would be useful for any dinner outing. It’s a yellow net like fabrics that’s very soft and nice in the skin. The fabric is only a meter length leaving me with a challenge of sewing a dress that will be long and and decent.
I like
I love off shoulder outfit but because of my collar bones I can’t wear them instead of that I decided to sew me a dress with some gathers at the know
I started with marking the fabric here with a size 6 measurement and cut out the front block and the back block
The front had a lower neckline
Next I cut out separate sets of flair to add to the base of the dress. By the time I was done cutting that the fabric was exhausted leaving me with no option of what to use as sleeves
I have thought that I will manage this fabric well but that didn’t happen
I moved next to sewing joining the shoulders first. Then I joined the side seams
And the flair was the next that was joined to the dress.
I like the outcome of the finished dress as this is simple enough to be worn for a night outing if you have a glittery camisole to wear within it.
A good idea would be to get another type of fabric with a similar color to be cut and attached to this as the sleeves or to wear it as sleeveless with some jacket or inner that has a sleeve.
The nature of a fabric can most times dictate what we sew of such fabric and this is exactly why I chose a simple design for a fragile fabric
