Hello Hive
Happy new day to us all and merry Christmas in advance. While people are putting on decorations to beautiful their homes what seamstress do at this time is to beautify people.
I have gotten starter with the many sewing projects I have both for my customers and for my family. My niece here is the first to get her Christmas dress read. I have used roughly 5hrs to cut and sew this dress. She is such a bright kid and always happy and anticipate her new wears.
Sometimes she goes as far as dancing around my workspace each time she realizes that I'm making an outfit for her. We didn't but any fabrics from the market this time around but decided to convert one of her mother's lace wear into an outfit for the children.
I started with cutting the fabric into her size for the front and back bodice here
Next I took it over to the machine and stitched the necklines to give it some beat finishing.
It is advisable to do a topstitching after sewing necklines to give it more firmness and fitness.
Then a good pressing was done with iron on the necklines before I proceeded with the sewing
The shoulder seams were first stitches together, recutting the armhole and sewing it to give a better fitting
Having done that the zippers were fixed next and then I got a thin strip of satin fabrics and create some pleats around the armhole as I was really short on accessories to decorate the clothes.
Having completed the sewing of the upper bodice I cut out a 3X measurements of her waist for the lower part of her clothes
This I had sewn with very lose stitches and pulled it into a gathers. Before then I got some strip of the lace and sewed it midway along the satin length just to lighten up the lower bodice.
Next I joined go upper and lower piece together before sewing a tiny strip of accessories along the neckline and the waist line just to give it some more finishing
We didn't have to spend so much to get the children some new wears
Except for the satin fabrics we bought for $4 the lace materials was the mum's old wear she gave us to recycle. Alot of people are not comfortable at this time that they cannot afford the expensive wear sold in the market but here we improvising within our means and using our skill to make beautiful wears for our children..
It's good to live within ones means and not get into financial trouble for no reason.
