Hello Hive
Happy new day to us all, I hope that we have had enough rest over the night and in a good mood and motivated to follow through another day. I'm here to share with us this new dress design I just made learning how to sew a cross sleeve and a beautiful dress hemming different from the norm.
I was at home yesterday and decided to learn something how to make new when I had done free time.
Streaming through social media I found dozens of creative design by our top fashion designers at the
#AMVCA award you need to see these designs where people represented their brand and turning nature and creativity into fashion.
Pepper were wearing dresses designed in form of a cathedral, rocks, food items and the like. I leave you with a link here to see how all of that went
There is more to fashion and we have to keep evolving and learning new things daily. Instead of sewing a regular blouse like I often do I decided to try something new and here is how I went about it.
Staying with cutting the the front of the Blouse here.
This is what the front of the dress looks like after cutting it out
And then there is the facing I will be using to turn the front neckline.
That's the new hem line design I had wanted to try. The back bodice was a simple straight cut and this is how I cut it
The sleeve is more of a tulip sleeve, the one we cut and sew with an overlap at the front, using a paper piece I was able to achieve that as well and the next steps was the stitching together of all the various parts.
For the stitching I started with using the facing to turn the necklines and the lower hemming.
Before I moved on to join the side bodice and then a zipper at the back.
This was done and the outcome of the design is such a pretty one.
I love the sleeve especially and I learnt that I can match this outfit with whatever choice skirt I wanted.
A little dart was picked at the front line to give it some coutour and this is just good to go. I hope that someone will be inspired by this to make something else even better and prettier.
