Talking about transportation in my areas. There are lots of problems we have concerning that. Well, I live in Lagos; you know when people talk about how bad their transportation can be. I looked at myself and asked if there's another state of places that can be bad to where I'm staying. Of course I've not been to all states, but I've been to some states, and I see the transportation there.
Talking about where I stay, before I talk about the big problem we are having, let me talk about the minor one. I stay in Lagos, and the first time I get to Lagos, it's like hell. I mean, this is the only place where you have to be extremely smart in all ways. In Lagos, no public transportation will wait for you to enter. You have to be on your toes running until you are able to enter. Most times people fall; in fact, if care is not taken, you can die while running. When you are about to get to your destination too, you must run so you can come down because no bus will wait for you till you come down. They are all in motion.
So here is what happened to me the first time. I gave the conductor the highest currency in my country, which is one thousand naira. And because he hurried me, I was unable to collect change. I was so pained. On a normal day, where I come from, the conductor will give you change, and we don't have to be worried. But these people always want you to forget your money.
Apart from this minor problem, the other one we have, most times. I don't like going anywhere. In Lagos, there are lots of cars and buses. The rate at which we are having traffic cannot be overemphasized. If you are going to a place that is just about thirty minutes away.
Believe me, you can use seven hours before you get to your destination.
People that work in Lagos stay on the road more than the way they stay at home. Imagine going to work at 4 am in the morning just because you want to get to work early. All these are stress that kills. When I first visited my uncle in Lagos. For the past one week, I did not know when he used to go to work or even come back from work.
This is because they spent lots of hours in traffic.
Apart from the traffic, we also have bad roads and too much increased fuel. There are some places here where, once you pass through the place, you have to visit the nearest pharmacy to buy body pain or anything to use for headaches. This is because the roads are so bad to the extent that you will hit your head and body on the bus. And eventually you get sick when you get to your destination.
Meanwhile, buses charge too much money because of the increase in fuel. I will just say that all bad things concerning public transportation are happening to each and every one of us here in my state.
The solution in my state is government. Firstly, we have too many cars and buses. And too many bad roads, only if the government can help us in solving the problem of bad roads. Then there will be limits to accidents, and so on. Also, the cost of fuel is alarming, and we really need help on these issues too. If the price can go down. Then the cost of transportation will go down too. Just because of the bad roads, and one lane. That is why we have too much of traffic.
