Pointing Out Hypocrisy
I find it rather interesting at this current moment in time, how basic words now somehow have different meaning to them. Take democracy for example, as we are a few days away from our national election here in SA, I am seeing this word pop up everywhere. Every political party and politician keeps informing us that it is a good thing, and to a degree it is, but not at the expense of the rights of the individual. Unfortunately people seem to think that it perfectly fine that this is allowed to happen, that you can vote for something, even if it that vote means to take from something from someone else. This is why most countries are not true democracies, and why they are constitutional republic's or something similar, otherwise it would just be mob rule. The scary part is a lot of folks are completely fine with that, I for one am not.

The big problem I have is, when a constitutional republic wants to change that very constitution that is there to protect the minority from the majority, in favor of the majority. A great example of this would be the land issue currently happening within my county, where the ruling political party wants to change to constitution and abolish the protection of property rights. The thing is that human rights are fundamentally built upon property rights.
Unfortunately those proposing this radical amendment to basically undo property rights, don't seem to understand the what the long term effects will be. This has in the history of the world never ended well, and always with blood shed and death.
