Another Year Gone By & It's My Birthday Again!

Another year has gone by so very fast and it's my birthday yet again! This means I have been privileged to celebrate 37 different birthdays on planet earth and I can assure you that it gets better forward. I bet some of you just smirked at that statement yeah? Or maybe you sniffed in cynical amusement? Whatever you did to express your disbelief is your prerogative as it is a very free world. However, my reality has been that life gets better as you grow older and wiser. Let me tell you why this is so. If you believe in your potentials, if you don't rest on your oars thinking you have learnt all you need, if you choose to keep learning, you would systematically morph into a better more improved version of yourself as you grow older. As this happens, you begin to have more relevance and impact and your life also begins to attract better and more valuable people.

I remember my 10th birthday very clearly. I was in grade 5 and felt I was a big girl. I celebrated it in school and my parents spared no expense to make that day very special. Knowing how much of a chocolate lover I was (and still am hence my size), they imported boxes of exotic chocolates and baked me a huge chocolate cake. They brought stacks and stacks of pre-packed party food and lots of drinks. The school was agog that day! Mosunmola Fawehinmi was 10 years old! I floated about on a cloud of effervescent euphoria and I felt like the queen of the world as every student wanted to be my best friend that day and almost every teacher claimed to be my guardian...lol. My young mind thought it could never get better than that. I honestly thought it was my happiest birthday celebration ever. Oh boy! How wrong I was!!

Fast forward to my birthday last year. I had learnt much more about life. I was surrounded by amazing people including my extraordinarily special husband, my beautiful children and a number of amazing friends. I had such an awesome day. I got 5 cakes from amazing people and a flood of beautiful gifts. There was so much food and drinks. The music flowed as smoothly as the happy banter of the steady flow of friends in and out of the house. The joy, happiness and excitement levels were so high that I couldn't sleep afterwards and even when the sleep tried to sweep me away, I refused to let it because I didn't want what seemed like the best day of my life to end. Silly yeah? Lol. I guess I was not convinced that it could ever get better than that. Oh boy! How wrong I was yet again!

Today started on such a sweet note at 12am with a barrage of calls and texts. I had to switch of my mobile phone to deter the rising excitement and get some sleep. I woke up to another very welcome barrage of calls, well wishes and lots of singing! Lawd! Many of my friends are choristers so you can imagine the different renditions...lol. Discovered an amazing birthday mate today; @drigweeu..happy birthday bruv. I went out with my peeps for movies and pizza and both experiences were hits, back to back! I'm sure I must have gained 5kg today. How can I thank these guys? They all made today even better than last year with the shower of love and gifts. I thought that wasn't possible but here I am guys...it happened and thus I have come to the conclusion that it gets better forward or what do you think?
