The transmission finnaly got pulled out of the bmw. It's heavy, bulky and oddly shapped but it almost slide out with minimal effort. While I didn't have the luxary of a transmission jack, I did have my chest, to which I benched pressed the transmission off.
With that hunk of metal out of the car, I've got all the room in the world to begin cleaning things up for the inevitable install. But before that, we still have to install the clutch pedal, and remove the shifting device. There's still the question about the rear main seal, which seals oil from coming out of the rear side crankshaft.
Logically, you're here so you should replace it because if it ever leaks in the future. You have to remove the transmission to get to it. I don't want to ever deal with this ever again unless I'm getting a bigger motor or a better transmission for a turbo.
While tearing things apart, I also broke my central locking system, so more woes to worry about. This litterally won't end.
I'd like to get an gear head club here.
