Hello my fellow Steemians! The name is Alex and I'm excited to not only share my stories with y'all, but to hear your stories as well. I love insights, stories and views from different people in different cultures because it really expands my thinking horizon. If you're wondering why the username is "mr-smorgasbord", well let me tell ya. Webster's definition of smorgasbord is "an extensive array or variety", so I will be posting about an extensive array & variety of topics over the course of my Steem career.
Why I joined Steemit
I've been against social media for a while now. Social media was created to share whatever you wanted with anyone willing to listen. For a lot of the community now, it has become a competitive based war zone where we engulf ourselves into beating out other people's picture quality, followers, etc. There is more to life than just social media and I believe it has a HUGE impact on these up & coming generations of kids (I'll get into this another time). Now I'm all about competition in certain environments and I know Steemit will obviously have competition in it as well, but the idea of paying Steemians to share their ideas with the other minnows in the pond really tickled my fancy. It's an awesome incentive to throw into play rather than bragging about whose got the bigger metaphorical dick on Instagram.
