Hello my dear friends ,
In today's post I am going to share one of my great and interesting experience of visiting Rourkela steel plant .
Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) is in Rourkela Dist. of Odisha . It was set up with West German collaboration with an installed capacity of 1 million tonnes in the 1960s . It is the first integrated steel plant in the public sector in India . It is operated by Steel Authority of India.
I went there in a study tour on 16th of April 2014 . That time was the starting time of summer and it was too hot in Rourkela . But although it was a hot uncomfortable day I enjoyed the fullest on that day . I was so curious to know about the plant .
Before entering in to the plant we have to wear safety helmets as safety is first always and there was a strict rule that you can not enter in to the plant without wearing a safety helmet .
Before entering into the plant I just stand there for a couple of minutes and just tried to figure out that how all this would have made .
Then I just looked around . Everything around me was so big and massive .
German metallurgical firms Mannesmann, Krupp, Demag, Siemens and Austrian company Voestalpine provided machinery and consultancy to the plant among others. It was the first steel plant in Asia to use the LD (Linz-Donawitz) process of steel-making.
Rourkela Steel Plant has an associated fertilizer plant that produces nitrogeneous fertilizers using ammonia feedstock (from its coke oven plant).
That's all for today .
