Hello Steemians!
My name is Darius and it feels awesome to be a part of this revolutionary and amazing platform. My username is .
I am a writer, a blogger, a poet, a vlogger, a spoken word artist, a dramatist, a satirist and a teacher, and as time goes on, I will be sharing some of my works with you guys for appraisal and constructive criticism.
Music is my greatest passion and I love reading books. I really love music. I seriously think I will slump and die if I don't listen to music for one day. Let me coin a phrase: a music a day keeps the doctor away. I wish I could, but I can't sing to save my life. I'm black and I detest the genre called "rap" and a lot of people can't fathom why. My idols are: Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Lionel Richie, Phil Collins, Celine Dion(I love her), Alicia Keys, Jazmine Sullivan, Colbie Caillat(love her), Usher, John Legend, The Jonas Brothers, Justin Bieber, Ne-Yo, Sam Smith, etc.
An acquaintance introduced me to this platform some couple of years ago, but the doubting Thomas in me dissuaded me from signing up until recently. My misgivings were necessitated by painful experiences I had had over the years with different Ponzi schemes, so I thought Steemit was no exception. Don't blame me. Once bitten twice shy.
What compounded my misgivings was when he told me that it was like Facebook, but unlike Facebook, one gets paid for writing articles and liking posts, and it seemed too good to be true.
"If it were true" I thought, "Why is everybody not ditching Facebook and breaking their backs to get into Steemit?"
A little bit of research would have, as we say in my country, cleared my doubts, but I wouldn't bother to expend my precious time to verify whether the platform was legit or whether it was just devised by a tech guru to swindle unsuspecting individuals.
So recently, I was watching a video on YouTube and I inadvertently came upon a video where a guy was talking about Steemit. The testimony he shared was too overwhelming to be ignored. Everything he said sounded too good to be true, just like I had been told. There is an abundance of videos about Steemit on YouTube and after watching them, I didn't need a soothsayer to tell me that it was real.
I quickly initiated the sign up process. I felt and still feel remorseful for not signing up when I was first told about it, but as they say: it's better late than never.
