Sport fishing in Hawaii is incredible. Recently myself and several friends took the opportunity to go fishing while in Maui. Wow, did we have a blast.
It started early. Very early. Here we are at the dock, at 6am in the morning. Still dark. Some of us are still feeling the effects of too many drinks the night before. The only one with a clear head is my son. Can’t find a better bunch of friends.
Dawn out of Lahaina harbor. The seas were very calm. It was surreal.
Father and son. This is what memories are made of. Romeo rocks! His first trip fishing in the ocean.
Fish on! The battle begins. Old men against strong fish.
It is good to be young. The next-generation takes a seat to land his first ever Mahi Mahi.
Several beautiful Mahi Mahi (also called Dorado for those who fish Central American waters) and a Skipjack Tuna were brought in.
The day was beautiful, beyond words. The open ocean was uncharacteristically calm.
Success of the day. Fish, friendship, smiles, memories, and some really great sashimi (eaten fresh on the dock).
Much thanks to the team at Start Me Up Sportfishing in Maui. Captain John and first-mate Kepono did a great job in making the trip memorable and a success! Fair wind and calm seas. See you next time.
