I've been to Spain almost every year since I was little, because I have family there, but I've never been to Barcelona before. And I have to say from the few days I've been there, it's definitely on the top of my list of european cities to visit and consideration to move to, and I think it would be a shame and waste of footage if I didn't share with you what I photographed in Barcelona. For any fellow architecture lover, this city should be on your bucket-list if you haven't been there already. The city is pretty much made up of beautiful designs and patterns.
I'm not a professional photographer, but surrounded by the architecture, light and vibe of this city I couldn't help, but capture a lot. Enjoy!
Barcelona is known to be the center of Antoni Gaudí's fascinating architecture work and I was stunned by looking at all the beautiful buildings and exact detail. The famous Casa Batllo, or House of Bones (because the façade has a rather skeletal feel), is Gaudí’s earliest famous work:
All images by me
It is located on the Block of Discord, which is a well-known block because it has four famous architects buildings right next to each other, from Lluís Domènech i Montaner's Casa Lleó-Morera, Enric Sagnier's Casa Mulleras, Josep Puig i Cadafalch's Casa Amatller.
El Cap de Barcelona ("the head") is a ceramic tile sculpture, that is said to acknowledge Gaudí and Barcelona's affinity for mosaics.
The warm stone, many buildings are made up of always let me know that I'm in Spain
I love the mouse-perspective angle that very well portrays the impression of these buildings
When you walk through the streets of Barcelona it in a way feels like the buildings are hugging you!
And then we found this epic image, made up of many little images.
This image is a great representation I think of how Barcelona and the architecture looks like. The buildings look really cool when you just look at them, but when you get closer you realize that the magic and art lies in every small detail and you can feel how precise everything was designed.
The sunsets in Barcelona are particularly beautiful!
The sky takes on the most amazing colors and many people from around the world enjoy their evening in the center of the city, by the famous cathedral "La Catedral de la Santa Creu i Santa Eulàlia"
Finally - my favorite view from from the mountains
(the mountain that I shared in my previous travel post)
From a nice view during the day...
to a stunning view at night...
Barcelona is a city where I could literally walk around all day and not get bored, because there's always more to see. I'm determined on going back soon to explore more, but in the mean time travel to new places I haven't yet visited.
What's your favorite city and why?
Much love,
