Out of my comfort Zone
So after a decade of being married to my Ghanaian husband I thought the time had come for me to learn a few Ghanaian dishes. To be honest my husband suggested it! This was quite surprising seeing as we both agree that I'm a pretty badass cook when it comes to things that I know like Indian food and baking, but tend to mess up things that are are out of my comfort zone, like cooking Chinese sweet and sour chicken (that was a total disaster!) and boiling an egg (I don't know why but I just can't get it right!).
Ghanaian Cooking School (AKA My Sis in Law's House)
As soon as he suggested it I wondered why I hadn't thought of this sooner and off I went to Ghanaian Cooking School, otherwise known as my sister in law's house! My eldest sister in law is a pro in the kitchen when it comes to traditional Ghanaian dishes. Over the years we've developed a mutual appreciation of each other's cooking. Even though this was supposed to be my first lesson in Ghanaian cooking, my sister in law asked me to show her how to make my lamb curry.

Peanut Soup takes quite a while to cook so I made a short video of the whole process. The result was delicious!
It was nice learning how to cook a different cuisine, particularly one that my husband had grown up eating. Maybe there's some truth in that saying: the way to a man's heart is through his stomach??
