If you don’t know the answer to this question, and you can cook ‘an okay’ or ‘a good’ rice, but not just perfect - this article is for you 😃
Rice is one of the most popular and cheapest products on the market. There is loads of variants of rice, such as white, brown, black, wild or basmati rice. Rice has a lot os uses: you can use it to your soup, curry, pudding or even a smoothie.
So it's handy to know how to cook rice perfecto.
But in fact, many people don’t know how to do it...
SO WHAT IS THE SECRET ABOUT??
Everything comes down to a small trick … to rinse the rice before the cooking 😏
Rice contains a lot of starch, so if you remove excess of starch before cooking, you get more soft and fluffy rice, rather than sticky and wet one.
Sounds simple? So it is 🙂 So let’s go through the whole cooking process, step by step.
You will need:
- 1 cup of uncooked rice
- 2 cups of cold water
- 3 tbs of oil (sunflour/rapeseed/olive oil)
- 1 tsp of salt
Instructions:
- Measure the cup of rice and put it on sieve. Rinse with warm running tap water until water will change from white to transparent.
- Put 2 cups of water, 3 tbs of oil and salt to the pan. Bring water to boiling. Add the rice and give it a good stir so it would not get stuck to the bottom of the pan. Stir until it starts boiling again.
- Change heat to low, put to lid on and leave for 10 – 12 mins. (water should still boil gently)
- Turn the heat off. Your rice should be dry outside and there should be 1-2 milimiters of water on the bottom of the pan.
- Leave it with lid on for 10 mins.
- Then gently stir so the last molecules of water would evaporate.
- Your rice is ready to be served. 👌
After following this steps you should get a soft, dry but still ‘juicy’ rice, and grains should be separated from each other just like from restaurant 👩🍳🍚👨🍳
