Hola amigos de la comunidad de Movies & Tv, estos últimos días he estado revisando el catálogo de series y películas de Netflix y he querido ver series cosa que no hago porque luego me cuesta terminarlas. Pero me tope con una que llamo mi atención, ya que la historia era sobre una joven que había asesinado a dos personas pero que no podía recordar nada del evento y fue encarcelada. Lo interesante es que está historia está basada en un libro y que Netflix presenta de una manera única, dónde podemos ver a la joven llamada Grace mientras está en sesiones con un psiquiatra para ver si puede recordar algo del pasado y tratar de averiguar si fue ella en realidad la asesina o fue alguien más.
Hello friends of the Movies & Tv community, these last few days I have been reviewing the catalog of series and movies on Netflix and I wanted to watch series which I don't do because then it's hard for me to finish them. But I came across one that caught my attention, as the story was about a young woman who had murdered two people but couldn't remember anything about the event and was imprisoned. The interesting thing is that this story is based on a book and Netflix presents it in a unique way, where we can see the young woman named Grace while she is in sessions with a psychiatrist to see if she can remember something from the past and try to find out if she was really the murderer or if it was someone else.

"Alias Grace" me sorprendió bastante siendo una mini serie basasa en la historia real de Grace Marks, una inmigrante irlandesa y trabajadora doméstica en Canadá que fue condenada por el asesinato de su empleador en 1843. Pero la manera en la que Grace parece recordar los hechos del momento del asesinato y los de antes de esto es bastante intrigante, además de que tiene ciertas pesadillas desde la muerte de su amiga Mary y parece ser una persona diferente en algunos momentos, como si no fuera ella. Cuando termine la serie tuve que investigar un poco más porque en el final te muestran un lado de Grace que no se ha visto a través de una hipnosis que le realiza un supuesto doctor que ella conoce bastante bien, dónde muestra otra personalidad, lo cual sería posible que ella tenga algun trastorno después de haber pasado por tantos eventos traumáticos pero también la serie nos deja ver qué Grace era una persona astuta entonces eso nos hace pensar que ella también podría estar mintiendo acerca de no recordar lo que verdaderamente pasó para librarse de la justicia y ser vista como una víctima más.
"Alias Grace" was quite surprising to me being a mini-series based on the true story of Grace Marks, an Irish immigrant and domestic worker in Canada who was convicted of the murder of her employer in 1843. But the way Grace seems to remember the events of the time of the murder and those before that is quite intriguing, plus she has certain nightmares since the death of her friend Mary and seems to be a different person at times, as if she is not herself. When I finished the series I had to investigate a little more because in the end they show you a side of Grace that has not been seen through a hypnosis performed by a supposed doctor that she knows quite well, where she shows another personality, which would be possible that she has some disorder after having gone through so many traumatic events but also the series lets us see that Grace was a cunning person so that makes us think that she could also be lying about not remembering what really happened to get rid of justice and be seen as one more victim.
Los críticos han elogiado la serie por su trama intrigante y su ambientación histórica, esto me pareció uno de los mejores detalles de la serie, el como mostraron las escenas históricas, dónde podemos ver el maltrato que sufrían las mujeres y hasta el acoso por parte de los hombres de esos tiempos, donde veían a la mujer como un objeto sexual más allá de verla como un ser humano que merece respeto. En general, ha recibido calificaciones positivas y la verdad es que estoy de acuerdo con los que piensan que está es una gran serie porque muestra cómo una mujer puede ser una víctima o tal vez una persona muy astuta. Sin duda Grace tiene una forma de mostrar sus recuerdos de una manera que te hace pensar que tal vez lo que está diciendo puede que sea verdad como que a la vez no lo sea aunque siempre suena bastante convincente de los hechos que recuerda. No he leído el libro pero por lo que ví en internet esta serie es considerada una de las mejores series basadas en un libro debido a su enfoque fascinante y su representación fiel de la historia real de Grace Marks.
Critics have praised the series for its intriguing plot and historical setting, this seemed to me one of the best details of the series, the way they showed the historical scenes, where we can see the mistreatment that women suffered and even the harassment by the men of those times, where they saw women as a sexual object rather than as a human being who deserves respect. In general, it has received positive ratings and the truth is that I agree with those who think this is a great series because it shows how a woman can be a victim or perhaps a very astute person. Grace certainly has a way of showing her memories in a way that makes you think that maybe what she is saying may be true as well as at the same time may not be true although she always sounds quite convincing of the events she remembers. I have not read the book but from what I saw on the internet this series is considered one of the best series based on a book because of its fascinating approach and its faithful portrayal of Grace Marks' true story.
¿La recomiendo? Si, aunque advierto que si no te gustan los temas de cosas históricas o tienes problemas para ver eventos violentos y explícitamente gráficos no deberías de verla. Aún así la recomiendo por qué me pareció fascinante la historia y el hecho de que realmente nunca se sabe que fue lo que pasó realmente y que tú debes darle sentido a lo que creas que pasó al final.
Do I recommend it? Yes, although I caution that if you don't like historical stuff or have trouble watching violent and explicitly graphic events you shouldn't watch it. I still recommend it because I found the story fascinating and the fact that you never really know what really happened and that you have to make sense of what you think happened in the end.
