Facial Recognition has been around for many years now, most of us will never worry if a facial recognition program filed us for future use, or would we? When I think about the software, I think wow… it is amazing that we have come to an age where everyone on planet earth will eventually be recorded and traced for the use of finding criminals, lost, kidnapped or murdered victims. Can you imagine the world where every camera placed anywhere in any space had the ability to use real-time facial recognition software and record every single person and alert police or throw up a flag to the FBI if you were a terrorist who was on a wanted list? At what point is it considered invasion of privacy if you are in a public place? If you are starting to get worried, well it might be too late to worry, it is already happening. Over half of the US is already in the database according to a report from The Perpetual Line-up. The day will come where any location we visit will be tracked, logged and used for future reference.
The government will have internal files with statistical data gathered through all of our behaviour; the places we visit, the things we buy and where we spend our time. Will there be laws that will protect us from this, and should we worry or be happy about it, since in a way it will make it easier for police to catch criminals? If there is no laws that will protect you from finding yourself at home when a police officer knocks your door to notify you that you need to come to the Sheriffs office to stand in a line-up because a computer program counted you as a suspect according to a live facial recognition software, then how could we avoid being a victim of being accused for a crime we didn't commit?
Not to worry, there is a way around fooling computers from allowing them to correctly identify you. How? A pair of goofy glasses, with an even goofier pattern on the frames… according to The Guardian. You can use a pair of tortoiseshell glasses to food the system and not fall into a lineup but instead be compared or confused with being someone else. Technology has come a very long way. Have we gotten so advanced that now we are fighting an uphill battle?
