GEMELAS DEL CORAZÓN

This story begins in 2001 when a girl called IVI comes into the world, her sister was only two years old.

Esta historia comienza en el año 2001 cuando una niña llamada IVI llega al mundo, su hermana tenía solamente dos años de vida.

It is always difficult for a girl to know that a little girl will come to her house who might be able to take her place, but for Nay it was different, she was always looking forward to the arrival of her little sister.

Siempre es difícil para una niña saber que llegará una pequeña a su casa que quizá podrá ocupar su lugar, pero para Nay era diferente, siempre estuvo esperando con ansias la llegada de su hermanita.

When they met for the first time it was a magical moment, immediately a light was lit in both their hearts that would unite them for the rest of their lives, although they did not know it, that beautiful moment was the beginning of many fantastic stories that would begin to be written later.

Cuando se conocieron por primera vez fue un momento mágico, inmediatamente se encendió una luz en el corazón de ambas que las uniría por el resto de sus vidas, aunque ellas no lo sabían, ese bello momento fue el principio de muchas historias fantásticas que comenzarían a escribirse más tarde.

Ivi was always on the lookout for her sister, as was Nay, although she was the younger of the two. She developed a certain instinct to take care of her sister, because she looked at her as fragile and delicate as if she were the youngest, she loved her very much although at times she tried not to show it, that's how she was.

Ivi siempre estuvo al pendiente de su hermana, al igual que Nay, aunque era la menor de las dos fue desarrollando cierto instinto de cuidar a su hermana, pues ella la miraba tan frágil y delicada como si fuera la más chiquita, la quería mucho aunque en ocasiones procuraba no demostrarlo, así era ella.

But she always wanted to be with Nay, she wanted to be like her, she admired her little sister as much as she loved her, even though they always argued, she forgot about it minutes after what happened and returned to her sister as if nothing had happened and of course her sister welcomed her.

Pero siempre quería estar con Nay, quería ser como ella, admiraba a su hermanita tanto como la quería, aunque siempre discutían, ivi se olvidaba minutos después de lo sucedido y volvía a su hermana como si nada hubiera pasado y por supuesto su hermana la recibía.

Little by little time passed, everything changed, the trees in the courtyard grew and so did they, and soon they ripened along with the red cherries that had been born.

Poco a poco el tiempo fue pasando, todo fue cambiando, los árboles del patio crecieron y así también crecieron ellas, y prontamente maduraron junto con las rojas cerezas que habían nacido.

They became a little more independent of each other but they were always there when they needed each other, they went out together, they comforted each other, they understood each other in a way that no one else did, they had a perfect brotherhood, because even though sometimes the glue of love was broken, it came back to unify it.

Se hicieron un poco más independiente la una de la otra pero siempre estaban ahí cuando se necesitaban, salían juntas, se consolaban entre sí, se entendían de la manera que nadie más las entendía, tenían una perfecta hermandad, porque aunque a veces se veía fracturada el pegamento del amor volvía a unificarla.

When the time came for Nay to leave the village to study for a university degree, they began to get closer together, ironically even though they were farther apart now; it seems that distance brings those who truly love each other closer together.

Cuando llegó el momento de que Nay saliera del pueblo para estudiar una carrera universitaria comienzan a unirse más, irónicamente aunque ahora se encontraban más lejos estaban mucho más juntas; parece ser que la distancia une más a quienes verdaderamente se aman.

That's what happened, ivi missed her sister a lot, missed fighting with her for any nonsense, missed telling her everything, missed hearing her voice, besides Nay missed all her family, it was not easy for them to leave after a lifetime together, they realized that they needed each other more than they thought.

Eso fue lo que pasó, ivi extrañaba mucho a su hermana, extrañaba pelear con ella por cualquier tontería, extrañaba contarle todo, extrañaba escuchar su voz, además Nay extrañaba a toda su familia, no era fácil para ellas alejarse después de toda una vida juntas, se dieron cuenta que se necesitaban más de lo que creían.

After a while Nay returns home because of certain circumstances in life, and that is when joy invades the life of ivi, her faithful companion had returned.

Luego de un tiempo Nay regresa a casa debido a ciertas circunstancias de la vida, y es allí cuando la alegría invade la vida de ivi, su fiel compañera había regresado.

Ivi and Nay were united by many things besides love, they shared the love for God and their family, they both loved to sing, they even had the same friends; however they were very different, almost like water and oil.

Ivi y Nay estaban unidas por muchas cosas además del amor, compartían el amor por Dios y su familia, las dos amaban cantar, incluso tenían los mismos amigos; sin embargo ellas eran muy distintas, casi como el agua y el aceite.

They were changing, they met new people, and suddenly there were more things that separated them than those that united them, but one thing is certain, they were not stronger or more powerful than the strong bond between sisters.

Fueron cambiando, conocieron a nuevas personas, y de pronto eran más las cosas que las separaban que aquellas que las unían, pero una cosa si es segura, no eran más fuertes ni poderosas que el fuerte lazo entre hermanas.

Their different personalities never prevented them from loving each other so much, on the contrary they allowed them to help each other based on their qualities, what one could not do the other could do, and so they supported each other as they climbed the ladder of life, what ivi did not like was Nay's strength, and what Nay did not like was ivi's skill.

Sus diferentes personalidades nunca impidieron que se amaran tanto, al contrario les permitieron ayudarse mutuamente bastándose de sus cualidades, lo que no podía hacer una lo podía hacer la otra, y así se fueron sosteniendo entre sí a medida que subían la escalera de la vida, lo que no le gustaba a ivi era la fortaleza de Nay, y lo que no le apasionaba a Nay era la destreza de ivi.

Clearly the reason they were sisters was that God had chosen them both to support each other along this narrow path we walk every day.

Claramente el motivo de que fueran hermanas era que Dios la había escogido a ambas para apoyarse a lo largo de este estrecho camino que transitamos cada día.

That was the answer, that explains why they loved each other so much, why they took care of each other even when they were angry, why they stayed next to each other even when they were so different and the world itself separated them.

Esa era la respuesta, eso explica porque se querían tanto, porque se vivían cuidando aunque estuvieran enojadas, porque permanecían una al lado de la otra aún cuando eran tan diferentes y el mundo mismo las separaba.

They noticed that they were more than sisters, for they were united by something very strong, like twins who are said to have a special connection, but they were not twins even though people said they had a great physical resemblance.

Ellas lo notaron, que eran algo más que hermanas, pues estaban unidas por algo muy fuerte, como los gemelos que según dicen tienen una conexión especial, pero ellas no eran gemelas aunque la gente decía que tenían un gran parecido físico.

Maybe their hearts were twins, or maybe the other one's name had been written on them, who knows, but this idea got into their thoughts to the point that they were called twins of the heart.

Tal vez sus corazones eran gemelos, o tal vez en ellos se había escrito el nombre de la otra, quién sabe, pero esta idea se metió en sus pensamientos hasta el punto de llamarse gemelas del corazón.

Because the bond that connected them was as solid and resistant as if they had formed at the same time in the mother's womb, as if they were one, as if God had sown in one a little piece of the other, as if they shared the same heart.

Porque el vínculo que las conectaba era tan sólido y resistente como si se hubieran formado al mismo tiempo en el vientre materno, como si fueran una sola, como si Dios hubiese sembrado en una un pedacito de la otra, como si compartieran el mismo corazón.

And well this is our story, a story that has not yet been written, but every day a new page is added; perhaps we did not ask to be sisters, but we chose to be friends.

Y bueno esta es nuestra historia, una historia que aún no termina de escribirse si no que cada día se le añade una nueva página; tal vez no pedimos ser hermanas, pero escogimos ser amigas gracias por leerla espero le haya gustado.

And well this is our story, a story that has not yet been written, but every day a new page is added; perhaps we did not ask to be sisters, but we chose to be friends.
