Monomad: Some black and white handicrafts [Eng/Esp]

This is my entry for the #monomad challenge.

In certain types of photography, the most important thing is to have a single subject or object that draws the eye, but when you have many of them in the same space, I think it’s interesting to play with perspectives and that’s what I’m sharing with you today in these photos of handicrafts; I hope you enjoy them.

Hay ciertos tipos de fotografía donde lo más importante es tener un único protagonista o algún objeto que sea el que llama la atención, pero cuando tienes muchos en un mismo lugar, creo que es interesante jugar con las perspectivas y es lo que les comparto el día de hoy en estas fotografías de artesanías; espero que las disfruten.

These handicrafts come from Guaquira, a beautiful place I’ve had the chance to visit twice both times to take photographs. I find it particularly fascinating to see people’s artistry in a different context, such as handicrafts, knowing that each person puts their own effort into creating every single one of these objects.

Estas artesanías pertenecen a Guaquira, un lugar muy hermoso al que he tenido la oportunidad de ir dos veces, en ambas ocasiones para hacer fotografías, y es que ver el arte de las personas en otro ámbito como las artesanías se me hace muy llamativo, saber que cada persona pone de su esfuerzo en generar cada uno de estos objetos.

By making the most of the variety of elements there, I also took into account the limited light sources; this allowed me to create a really nice contrast. Some of the photos look backlit, and I’d say that adds a little something extra to the final result, especially when viewed in black and white.

Al aprovechar la variedad de cosas allí, también lo hice tomando en cuenta las pocas fuentes de luz; de esta manera logré generar un contraste muy bonito. Algunas fotografías parecen a contraluz y diría que eso suma un poco más al resultado final, más viéndolas en blanco y negro.
