The isolation and silence of the space will be the scenario for a brutal hunt where the strongest will have to survive... "ALIEN".
Hello Hivers, today I bring you my participation in this initiative made by called "League of Movies", which this is its second edition and 4th week, this does not prevent the participation, on the contrary if you like the cinema I invite you to create your publication and join the league but for that you must follow the rules of the game that you will be able to see them in the following Link.
"Unleash the ALIEN..."
ALIEN is one of my favorite films along with Star Wars and JAWS, this to name a few, but I focus on those three because I saw them at a very young age, I was shocked and despite being very young I never felt fear, I was always happy to see such excellent stories full of monsters, adventures and heroes that were not very common to see, but as this week we will focus on monsters, is when I immediately thought of one of the best and ruthless murderers I've seen in the movies.
This film directed by Ridley Scott and written by Dan O'Bannon, is perfect for this topic, it has all the dyes of the creation of a supernatural creature that later is "rescued" or obtained for its future use, but before that it will have to be studied and for that the crew of "Nostromo " will be used as a decoy to know what this fascinating creature is capable of doing, That's why this film has that base of scientists/businessmen/military obsessed with discovering the perfect weapon and using anyone to find out its potential and even its weaknesses. It's clear that all these themes have been developed much better in the many sequels and spin-offs, but in this first film that is taken very lightly.
Now we come to the important thing and what I think ALIEN is related to this theme that we discussed, from the moment that the members of Nostromo, are going to investigate the call for help that they get from the moon "LV-426", they already stop doing their mission for which they were hired and spend an active part in the study of this creature and not only that, but Scott as a director creates the necessary environment to see stage by stage of the creation or transformation of the Alien, but to get to this we must see how it is the first release of this creature that goes from its stage of incubation in an egg to enter its host as a parasite does, this scene complete from the arrival of the members of the Nostromo to its journey to the ship that sends the signal, is completely perfect, the low visibility and darkness makes us want to see more as it happens to these characters and in the moments where we can finally observe different things, we have that restlessness to discover what is really happening on that moon and in that special ship, all that scene together with the music make you have the necessary tension and more when we can see for the first time the "Facehugger" and his fast attack, We know that from the moment they land nothing good can happen and so we continue to see every movement, every scene, just from that moment we have a pause and returns to a calm that had been seen at the beginning of the film, but that calm is interrupted when we see the "Chestbuster", second transformation of this alien monster who tried to end all human life in the Nostromo, no doubt that scene is synonymous with "Unleash the Monster".
From that moment on, this film takes a course of resemblance to one of the genre of "Slasher" and is that one by one of the seven crew members of this spaceship, are victims of a perfect murderer, one that makes no noise, has no feelings, His evolution to his perfect form is linked to each attack he has in different areas showing his transformation to a perfect hunter and this is where those who think they are hunting a strange creature will end up being the victims of a test to see how lethal it can be and how resistant his body is, which in the future will be recognized as "Xenomorph ".
ALIEN was released just 41 years ago, is still one of the best science fiction and horror films I've seen, not only for creating one of the best antagonists in cinema but for creating one of the best heroines I saw as a child, Ellen Louise Ripley played by Sigourney Weaver, raising that movement that we would see even more which is called "The Final Girl", This film should be mandatory because its direction and image is very good, the designs of the ships and planets are appropriate for the story, but the designs of the creatures are much better, as I said before Star Wars, taught me somehow see aliens with monstrous features and humanoids, but what I saw in ALIEN is quite the opposite, is aggressive and terrified and that's something I always like to see.
In the following weeks at "League of Movies " I want to invite
