Motivated by "Monthly Quest" from The Anime Realm community; finally decided to start watching the last three Netflix anime that were released last year, three productions, which one is based on a video game, another is an original story and the last one is based on a famous manga; this time I decided to start this triad of reviews with the production that is likely to get an easy acceptance from the public for having a title more than known by fans of video games.

Motivado por "Monthly Quest" de la comunidad The Anime Realm ; por fin decide comenzar de ver los tres últimos animes de Netflix que se estrenaron el pasado año, tres producciones, las cuales una es basada en un videojuego, otra es una historia original y la última es basada en un famoso manga; en esta oportunidad decidí por comenzar esta tríada de reseñas con la producción que posiblemente obtenga una fácil aceptación del público por tener un título más que conocido por los fans de los videojuegos.
Before I start (officially) the review, I must say that I have never played "Onimusha", I was not familiar with the story of this game and that was never an impediment to watch this Netflix anime series, on the contrary, having a story of samurai, zombies, demons, blood and battles, was enough to capture my attention; that definition that I just shared with you is the one that I could mostly read in brief information about this anime which to make a correct synopsis, shows us the mission of a group of samurai, led by the mythical warrior "Miyamoto Musashi", where they must go to a village which is now under the domain of a samurai deserter who with the support of "Genma" seeks to overthrow a nation that lives in peace; That is why Musashi has been given a powerful artifact, "Oni gauntlet", which will give him supernatural powers and thus be able to defeat and seal the soul of his enemies.

Antes de comenzar (oficialmente) la reseña, debo decir que nunca he jugado "Onimusha", no estaba familiarizado con la historia de este juego y eso nunca fue impedimento para ver esta serie animada de Netflix, al contrario, tener una historia de samuráis, zombis, demonios, sangre y batallas, fue suficiente para captar mi atención; esa definición que acabo de compartir con ustedes es la que mayormente pude leer en breves informaciones sobre este anime el cual para hacer una correcta sinopsis, nos muestra la misión de un grupo de samuráis, liderados por el mítico guerrero "Miyamoto Musashi", en dónde deberán dirigirse a una aldea la cual está ahora bajo los dominios de un samurái desertor quien con el apoyo de "Genma" buscar derrocar a una nación que vive en paz; es por eso que a Musashi se le ha brindado un poderoso artefacto, "Oni gauntlet", que le brindará poderes sobrenaturales y así poder derrotar y sellar el alma de sus enemigos.
It is more than evident that Netflix as a platform continues and will continue to promote anime where cgi animation is the main feature of these productions; I know that there is also a rejection to this style, but I think that studios are increasingly finding a way to make animations more dynamic and in my opinion, this anime shows that progress. The anime is directed by the renowned Takashi Miike, of whom I have seen films like "Crows Zero", "Crows Zero 2" and "Blade of the Immortal" among many others; in this opportunity we notice the need to create visually very attractive combat scenes, entertaining, no matter how long or short, they are all very good, also provides us with beautiful images, very colorful, away from the sword duels and that give depth and importance to the dialogues of the few characters that are part of the story; having someone so experienced in the direction was a great success.
The story itself is simple, a Feudal Lord knows of the existence of a threat in a village led by a renegade samurai and that maybe there is something else and therefore creates this suicide commando to end that threat; within this simplicity there are interesting elements regarding the samurai code and I do not want to pretend to be a connoisseur of the subject, but the story itself exposes those issues about what it means to be samurai and if it has value in an era where it seems that peace can be eternal; It also has a certain value regarding the generational which leads to an inevitable power struggle, the dominance of a nation, something already referenced in other stories, in that I liked it although I must also point out that a better development of the history of certain characters, could have created more connection with them, but to be honest, the way of the story of the important issues is well done.

Es más que evidente que Netflix como plataforma sigue y seguirá impulsando animes en dónde la animación por cgi sea la característica principal de estas producciones; sé que también existe un rechazo a este estilo, pero creo que los estudios cada vez más encuentran una manera de hacer las animaciones más dinámicas y en mi opinión, este anime se observa ese avance. El anime está dirigido por el reconocido Takashi Miike, del cual he visto films como "Crows Zero", "Crows Zero 2" y "Blade of the Immortal" entre muchas películas más; en esta oportunidad se nota la necesidad de crear escenas de combate visualmente muy atractivas, entretenidas, sin importar que tan extensas o cortas, todos son muy buenas, también nos provee imágenes hermosas, muy coloridas, alejadas de los duelos de espada y que dan profundidad e importancia a los diálogos de los pocos personajes que son parte de la historia; contar con alguien tan experimentado en la dirección fue un gran acierto.
La historia en sí es simple, un Lord Feudal sabe de la existencia de una amenaza en una aldea liderada por un samurái renegando y que tal vez exista algo más y por eso crea este comando suicida para poner fin a esa amenaza; dentro de esta simpleza existe elementos interesantes con respecto al código samurái y no quiero hacerme pasar por un conocedor del tema, pero la historia en sí expone esos temas sobre que significa ser samurái y si tiene valor en una época en dónde pareciera que la paz puede ser eterna; eso también tiene cierto valor lo referente a lo generacional lo cual lleva a un inevitable lucha de poder, del dominio de una nación, algo ya referenciado en otras historias, en eso me ha gustado aunque también debo señalar que un mejor desarrollo de la historia de ciertos personajes, pudo crear más conexión con ellos, pero siendo sincero, la manera del relato de los temas importantes está bien realizado.
As I said before, the generational part is something important in this story, as well as the design of the characters, for example "Musashi" who according to me has great resemblance to the legend of acting in Japan, Toshirō Mifune, protagonist of "Seven Samurai", I also found some resemblance to Charles Bronson, actually he was the first actor that came to my mind when I saw the design of that character, who despite being a Ronin, is willing to take any fight, he knows the ravages of war and I think the weight of bringing death to several places possibly makes him believe he is a demon; I liked that characteristic of the character because the silence and not sharing that pain is also generational. The other characters also have traits depending on their age and I repeat, the generational design is important and you can see how those who are younger do not share the same traits of other characters.

Como dije anteriormente, la parte generacional es algo importante en esta historia, así como el diseño de los personajes, por ejemplo "Musashi" quien según tiene un gran parecido a la leyenda de la actuación en Japón, Toshirō Mifune, protagonista de "Seven Samurai", también encontré cierto parecido a Charles Bronson, en realidad fue el primer actor que vino a mi mente al ver el diseño de ese personaje, el cual a pesar de ser un Ronin, está dispuesto a aceptar cualquier pelea, sabe de los estragos que ha dejado la guerra y creo que el peso de llevar muerte a varios lugares posiblemente le haga creer que es un demonio; esa característica del personaje me gustó porque el silencio y el no compartir ese dolor también es generacional. Los demás personajes también tienen rasgos dependiendo de su edad y repito, el diseño generacional es importante y podrán ver cómo quienes son más jóvenes no comparten los mismos rasgos de otros personajes.
I was entertained by Onimusha in its eight episodes that make up this story, I think the best thing is that it has no direct relation to any of the games, there is no such comparison and makes it something (of course) new; it is a direct story, a samurai mission where the value of following the orders of a master, seems to have no value, but doing the best for others, free the soul from guilt and do good, seems to be what is really necessary to have peace; I value the story that has a good development in its last episodes and I wish they had written a better development for the other characters, but the final result is acceptable, in my opinion it is a long film, a story that despite having a conclusion presents the basis for the development of a continuation and I hope that soon there will be a notion of the development of other stories of samurai and demons.

Me entretuvo Onimusha en sus ocho episodios que conforman esta historia, creo que lo mejor es que no tiene una relación directa a ninguno de los juegos, no existe esa comparación y la convierte en algo (por supuesto) nuevo; es una historia directa, una misión de samuráis en dónde el valor de seguir las órdenes de un amo, pareciera no tener valor, pero hacer lo mejor por el prójimo, liberar el alma de culpas y hacer el bien, parece ser lo verdaderamente necesario para tener paz; en eso valoro la historia que tiene un buen desarrollo en sus últimos episodios y ojalá se hubiera escrito un mejor desarrollo para los demás personajes, pero el resultado final es aceptable, en mi opinión es un largo film, una historia que a pesar de tener una conclusión presenta las bases para el desarrollo de una continuación y espero que pronto se tenga noción del desarrollo de otra historias de samuráis y demonios.
