En el mítico estadio de Wembley, el Chelsea dio un gran paso para cerrar lo que puede ser una de las peores temporadas en sus últimos años como club; el equipo azul de Londres cayó derrotado contra el Manchester City por 1 gol a 0 en la disputa por el título de la FA Cup 2025-2026; esa derrota les hace estar cada vez más cerca de quedar fuera de toda competición de clubes organizada por la UEFA, ya que después de su muy mala actuación en la Premier League, el ganar ese título pudiera brindarle la oportunidad de por lo menos ser partícipe de la UEFA Europa League, pero al perder una final por séptima ocasión consecutiva en Wembley, creo que el actual campeón del Mundial de Clubes nuevamente estará fuera de todo.

At the legendary Wembley Stadium, Chelsea took a major step toward wrapping up what could be one of the worst seasons in the club’s recent history; the London Blues fell to Manchester City 1–0 in the 2025–2026 FA Cup final; That loss brings them ever closer to being excluded from all UEFA-organized club competitions, as—following their dismal performance in the Premier League—winning that title could have at least given them a chance to participate in the UEFA Europa League. However, by losing a final for the seventh consecutive time at Wembley, I believe the current Club World Cup champion will once again be left out of everything.
Después de la incomprensible decisión del despido de Enzo Maresca, el Chelsea sufrió para poder recuperar una senda plena tanto de buen juego como de victorias; los malos resultados se hicieron más repetidos en la Premier League, y para el mes de abril, al Chelsea se le hizo sumamente difícil obtener victorias, y eso les hizo no solamente quedar fuera en los octavos de final contra el PSG, sino perder puestos clasificatorios que ofrece la Premier League para la Champions, Europa y Conference League de la próxima temporada. Solamente pudieron ganar en los encuentros por la FA Cup, lo cual se convirtió en esa luz al final del túnel, en esa esperanza para que un equipo tan caro como el Chelsea pudiera estar presente en algún torneo continental en la próxima temporada.

Following the baffling decision to fire Enzo Maresca, Chelsea struggled to get back on track in terms of both good play and wins; poor results became more frequent in the Premier League, and by April, it had become extremely difficult for Chelsea to secure wins, which not only saw them eliminated in the round of 16 against PSG but also caused them to lose out on the qualifying spots offered by the Premier League for next season’s Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League. They were only able to win in FA Cup matches, which became that light at the end of the tunnel, that hope that a team as expensive as Chelsea could still be competing in a continental tournament next season.
El Chelsea comenzó su transitar en la FA Cup desde la tercera fase del torneo en donde fue privilegiado en enfrentar a clubes de menor categoría y llegó a presentar dificultad al momento de disputar la semifinal contra el Leeds Utd, club que derrotó por tan solo un gol; en mi opinión, ese fue un gran premio para este equipo que no pudo superar las expectativas de sus aficionados, quienes esperaban verlos competir por los otros más títulos, pero tanto los problemas en la directiva con las malas decisiones, tanto en despedir como en contratar a entrenadores, fue lo que, en mi opinión, generó esa desconexión entre los jugadores que, sin quitar responsabilidad, su falta de actitud y compromiso los llevó a una posición nada favorable en la Premier League, pero a pesar de los malos resultados y como cité anteriormente, la posibilidad de salvar la temporada siempre estuvo ahí.

Chelsea began their FA Cup run in the third round of the tournament, where they had the advantage of facing lower-division clubs, but they struggled in the semifinal against Leeds United, a team they defeated by just one goal; in my opinion, that was a major achievement for this team, which failed to meet the expectations of its fans, who had hoped to see them compete for more titles, but the problems within the front office—specifically the poor decisions regarding both firing and hiring coaches—were, in my opinion, what created that disconnect among the players. Without shirking responsibility, their lack of attitude and commitment led them to an unfavorable position in the Premier League. However, despite the poor results and as I mentioned earlier, the possibility of salvaging the season was always there.
Este equipo, bajo el mandato de Calum McFarlane, entrenador interino, fue de lo peor que he visto y, pienso, que no es su culpa porque el equipo titular fue bastante correcto, contando con jugadores de calidad para enfrentar a otro poderoso club como lo es el ManCity. Contar con jugadores como Cole Palmer, Caicedo, James, Enzo, Cucurella y otros más, creo que era lo necesario para competir, pero lamentablemente este equipo está lejos de contar con una disposición profesional para jugar al fútbol; lo de hoy fue una demostración de desgano y desconexión que hace tiempo no veía. Muchos aficionados en redes sociales hicieron referencia a que los jugadores no querían disputar el encuentro porque estaban pensando en el mundial, pero creo que es peor que eso, ya que, en mi opinión, hay muchos jugadores que no quieren ser parte de ese club.

This team, under interim coach Calum McFarlane, was one of the worst I’ve ever seen, and I don’t think it’s his fault because the starting lineup was actually quite solid, featuring quality players capable of taking on another powerhouse like Man City. Having players like Cole Palmer, Caicedo, James, Enzo, Cucurella, and others, I think, was what was needed to compete, but unfortunately, this team is far from having a professional attitude toward playing soccer; today’s performance was a display of apathy and disconnection that I haven’t seen in a long time. Many fans on social media suggested that the players didn’t want to play the match because they were thinking about the World Cup, but I think it’s worse than that, since, in my opinion, there are many players who don’t want to be part of that club.
El Chelsea, así como ha sucedido con Liverpool FC y hasta puedo nombrar al Real Madrid, son de esos equipos que se convirtieron en una gran decepción de la temporada. Estos equipos cuentan con una plantilla plagada de jugadores considerados de élite, sea por los contratos que les convierten en jugadores con una alta ficha económica o porque son realmente buenos en su posición, pero la nulidad en el compromiso en representar al equipo que te paga muy bien es lo que les hace ser un problema en vez de una solución, y creo que ese es un gran factor para la debacle de esta temporada y claramente esto es culpa de una directiva que no sabe administrar a un club de fútbol, que solo suma jugadores como si fueran figuras de acción, cromos o como quieran llamarlos, y al final no generas un equipo, sino a individuos que se creen más de lo que pueden ser. Habrá que esperar qué sucede en las dos últimas jornadas en la Premier League por si el Chelsea tiene suerte y alcanza nuevamente a ser parte de la Conference League y, si no es así, entonces deberán los jugadores y, espero que los directivos, acompañar a su nuevo entrenador, Xabi Alonso, a que sea el líder de un proyecto verdaderamente competitivo.

Chelsea, just like Liverpool FC—and I could even mention Real Madrid—are among the teams that have turned out to be major disappointments this season. These teams have a roster full of players considered elite, whether because of the contracts that make them high-salary players or because they’re truly good at their positions, but their lack of commitment to representing the team that pays them so well is what makes them a problem rather than a solution, and I believe that is a major factor in this season’s debacle, and clearly this is the fault of a front office that doesn’t know how to manage a soccer club—one that just signs players as if they were action figures, trading cards, or whatever you want to call them—and in the end, you don’t build a team, but rather individuals who think they’re more than they can actually be. We’ll have to wait and see what happens in the final two Premier League matchdays to see if Chelsea gets lucky and manages to qualify for the Conference League again, and if not, then the players—and, I hope, the management—will have to support their new coach, Xabi Alonso, as he leads a truly competitive project.
